Corrado was our guide today to mt Etna and lunch at a winery. He was very knowledgable about the history of the Island ,and explained the time line of the formation of the volcano ,with enough time to walk around the lower crater and visit the lava cave. We would recommend asking for Corrado if you are considering this trip.
We took this tour on Saturday, May the 23rd. Our guide was Corrado. He was fantastic. You should ask for him. On the way he talked about the early Greeks and Romans, and their accomplishments. As Etna came into view, he started to tell us all about the volcano, and the history of its eruptions. Once on the mountain he pointed out everything he had told us about. He was a wealth of information. I now know way more about volcanos than i thought possible. Once to 2000 meters, we parked the van and proceeded by foot. Hint: when he offers you walking sticks, take them. It is not an easy climb to about 3000 meters, but it is well worth it. We were lucky. It was a clear day and we could see forever. But the climb would have been worth it no matter what. The way down was more difficult than i thought. So if you did not need the walking sticks to make it up, you will appreciate having them on the way down. Once we got back to the van, Corrado took us to the winery. I do not drink, so i did not have any of the four wines my family tasted. They said they were terrific, and afterwards my older son bought 6 bottles and had them shipped back to the U.S. But even if you don't drink, it is well worth it, as the lunch they serve with the wines is fabulous. Anyway, I recommend this tour without reservation, especially if Corrado is your guide. Again, request him.
What an amazing tour and our guide Corrado was perfecto! - his knowledge about the history of Mount Etna; the various craters made the trip so interesting, With a surprise trip into a lava cave, hard hats provided, the whole day was excellent We decided not to do the extended tour to the higher elevation as we felt we had plenty of opportunity to get the Mount Etna experience without it, so we headed then off to an amazing lunch at a winery. The tour also includes a visit to a local honey farm With so many options on these tours, you won't be disappointed in booking this tour and Corrado
Corrado was an excellent guide - gave us a great history of the volcanic activity, and went on a few great hikes. We started with a honey tasting, then to a lava field, lava cave, and finally a crater hike before having lunch at a lovely winery (Villa Neri), with a tour of the vineyard. A fun day all around.
We had a fantastic time on our tour with Corrado. Pickup was right on time, our transportation was clean and spacious, and Corrado was a fantastic tour guide. We saw the highlights of Etna, and he took us on a lesser-known hike that wasn’t crowded. We also walked through a lava cave which was a fun surprise. The winery lunch was also above and beyond amazing. We weren’t sure what to expect but we ate like kings and the wine was fabulous. Corrado also gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat during the rest of our trip, all of which were great. I would highly recommend this company- especially Corrado!
Corrado was awesome! He took us to Mt Etna and a winery in between cities. He was so easygoing the whole day. Mt Etna is beautiful and the lunch at the winery was delicious
Fantastic guide (Corrado). Really informative, interesting and helpful. Every element was brilliant. Im sure you could get to the cable cars with other tours but we were looked after right to the top with invaluable explanations of the history and background. Meal and wine tasting were a must-do experience but the 200m lava cave walk was very special and definitely something you couldn’t do on your own.
Our guide Corrado was excellent. The tour catered for my young children and the views were incredible. The lava cave was a firm favourite with the children! After the Etna tour we visited a winery for lunch and wine tasting and again service was excellent.
This is a wonderful experience and Corrado is a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. His English is excellent. We did the walking tour of Mt Etna and was able to go into small caves left from hot lava. We loved the small winery. The wine is delicious and can be shipped to the states. It is small and family owned. Our experience was intimate and fun.
Corrado was an excellent and knowledgable guide who tailored the experience to what we were interested in seeing. He picked us up from our accommodation and made us feel comfortable from the start. The trip itself was amazing - Etna was incredible and the winery was special. If I could recommend one tour whilst in Scilly, it would definitely be this one!
