The whole experience was lovely. The landscape was beautiful, the vineyard and the family who ran it were wonderful, the boat ride was nice, and the tour guide (Nuno) was excellent. it was very hot out, but Nuno took good care of us so we were fine. The wine was delicious.
This is a must do experience! The wines, the scenery, the tour company - everything was exceptional. Our guide, Nuno, was incredible and truly elevated our trip. He was personable, funny, and made an effort to chat and connect with all 8 people on the experience. If you’re on the fence about this excursion, please take my advice and book it!
Nuno is friendly and always connect to everyone, keeping the conversation flowing with information. The journey is smooth and we are rewarded with the sweeping view of Duoro Valley. The visit to a family run vineyard is uniquely intimate. Enchidos tradicionais portugueses platter is generous and the best wine I tasted for a long time so crisp and light both white and red. Port wine is also refreshingly fruity. These wines straight from the vineyard is so different from bottled wine, one needs to try to appreciate it's quality. The boat ride is chillaxing and more sparkling wine served. This is a must do trip for anyone visiting Porto to learn about why this valley has been one of the finest wine producing location since centuries ago.
Nuno was an incredible tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the science and history of the valley! Would recommend anyone to take the tour, and support these family businesses so that they can pass onto the next generation!
We attended the so called ," premium wine tour, with 2 wineries and lunch and river cruise. Our driver and guide Pedro was first class but that is where the "premium" First wine tour was good. At the next wine tour we had lunch. The food was mediocre. I was told before the tour that the main course choice would be fish or meat. It was only meat. 3 miniscule pieces of meat, with rice, potato crisps from a packet and tomato and onion salad. Hardly "premium." It was a very hot day. We went on a boat with no cover outside and if you went inside there were no windows that opened. All the other boats had coverage outside with windows that opened for the inside cabin, if there was one. THE WORST BOAT. Definitely not premium. Pedro said he did not know why they gave us this boat. Extremely disappointed given their rave reviews.
We had an absolutely wonderful time on this tour. Great hosts, excellent wine, an amazing backdrop, and a top guide! If you want to have an informative and relaxing time, we can only recommend Nuno as a guide!
Incredible day, well organized and good guide. What was missing a bit was a little more info and info from the farmers themselves, one was not even English speaking. On the plus side the rest with two cozy vineyards, a fantastic lunch, good wines and port. Nice with a little boat trip even if that was maybe a little over rejected
Small group tour of some lovely wineries. Great authentic Portuguese lunch, followed by a relaxing river cruise.
This was a wonderful guided tour. We traveled in a van as a family of 7 with our elderly mother and two young kids. We had Philip as our guide and he was patient and accommodating the entire time. We chose one winery to visit because we wanted a slower-paced experience of the Douro Valley and we were hoping to avoid the crowds. This trip surpassed our expectations and came away with a personalized experience. After the boat ride along the Douro River, he took us to a small family-owned vineyard where we met the lovely couple Taveira and Anita. We had Portuguese homestyle cooking in a 4 course meal, probably the best food we've had during our trip in Portugal. I usually don't drink, but their wine was so delicious, We tried the white, red, ruby, and tawny wine, all delicious. It's really unlike anything you can buy at any store and is organically made since it's produced locally and in small batches. Taveira makes wine because he just genuinely enjoys it. Ditch those unpersonalized group tours that take you to large commercialized wineries and opt for this one.
We had an incredible experience touring from Porto to the Douro Valley with Felipe. From the start, he was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and effortlessly multilingual (Portuguese, English, and Spanish), which made the experience feel welcoming and accessible. The day was thoughtfully planned and truly authentic. We began with a beautiful boat tour along the Douro River, taking in the stunning scenery, before heading to a small, family-run vineyard and bed & breakfast—Casa da Quinta do Cabo. What made this experience special was how personal and genuine it felt. We were welcomed with a home-cooked lunch featuring locally sourced meats and cheeses, along with vegetables, olives, and olive oil all produced on the vineyard. Everything was fresh, simple, and delicious. We then sampled the family’s wines—red, white, and their port (vinho generoso)—and toured the cellar to learn about the winemaking process. Tasting their 20-year port was a highlight. Overall, this was much more than a typical tour—it was an opportunity to connect with the region, understand the wine-making tradition, and spend time with a local family. Felipe made the entire experience seamless and engaging. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Porto and looking for something authentic, educational, and memorable.
