Very exciting experience, with a cool guide
My son and I spent the day traversing the canyon and rock jumping. Felipe was an excellent guide and showed us all the best places to jump. Swimming through the caves was a cool experience. I highly recommend the trip!
Rating 1 out of 5. There is no medical cover or back/up. My wife and I were forced to turn back 30 minutes into the trip. I had to climb a steep canyon to get out which was frightening. No health or safety. We had to walk back to the van in searing heat with no water. We then sat on the pavement with no support or help for two hours until the tour guide returned. The canyon is dangerous. Definitely one to avoid.

Furthermore, your account does not correspond to our Guadalmina Canyon tour, the route itself, or our safety procedures. The Guadalmina Canyon is an introductory canyoning experience suitable for healthy participants from the age of 6 with a normal level of fitness. It is widely regarded as one of the most popular outdoor activities near Marbella. The route does not include any steep or exposed exit such as the one described in your review, nor can it be considered an extreme activity requiring exceptional physical endurance. Regarding safety, all of our tours are led by professionally qualified canyoning guides who are trained in guiding techniques and first aid. Every guide carries a first-aid kit, drinking water and the necessary safety equipment throughout the activity. The circumstances you describe do not correspond to our operating procedures. More than 1,000 reviews from previous guests consistently reflect the true nature of this experience: an introductory canyoning activity that is suitable for beginners and families when participants follow the guides' instructions and the information provided before the tour. For these reasons, we believe this review refers to a different experience or another tour operator. Unfortunately, it presents a misleading description that does not accurately represent either our tour or the Guadalmina Canyon, and may mislead future travellers.
The guide Juan was very experienced and super friendly and helpful. He made the tour fun and memorable. We even received images of us and the group afterwards. Perfekt birthday activity thank you for the great service and communication before the tour.

Great guide Benjamin. Very patient! Took us longer than say some youngies! We loved it. The views from being in the canyon, the wildlife, the caves.
Very good family activity (with teenagers for us). The course is beautiful and of moderate difficulty. For a first it was perfect. A little expensive for 2h but we had privatized to stay in a small group and in this season enjoying the place by hardly anyone was very nice. Many thanks to Juan our guide for his kindness and good humor.

My husband and I joined this canyoning tour with a group of seven others, guided by José and Marco (with José leading), and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The guides struck the perfect balance between fun and professionalism. They were encouraging, knowledgeable, and always made us feel completely safe. At every stage, they offered clear advice on the best routes and helped build everyone’s confidence. Thanks to them, every single person in our group managed the higher jumps – something I don’t think we’d all have done without their support! The equipment was excellent quality and gave us real confidence. We went in March, so the water was definitely on the cold side, and while I started to feel it towards the end, the wetsuits absolutely did their job and kept it manageable. The suits were really floating meaning we didn’t need a life vest but you can have one if you wish. I’d say not needed if you can swim, you just float anyway! The water shoes they provided were good too. What really stood out was how professional José was when an unexpected medical emergency occurred (just one of those unlucky things). He handled the situation calmly and efficiently, looking after the individual while also keeping the rest of the group informed and reassured. It really showed how capable and experienced the team is in any situation. The whole experience was seamless from the beginning. I booked about two months in advance and received helpful WhatsApp communication with quick responses to all my questions. After the tour, we were sent photos, which made for a brilliant keepsake. I’d say this isn’t for everyone – you do need a bit of an adventurous spirit – but if you’re up for it, it’s an incredible experience. The canyon is absolutely stunning, and seeing it from this perspective is something really special. Having lived in Benahavís in the early 2000s and visited many times since, I’d never gone beyond the first pool… until now! A truly memorable day – thank you José and Marco!

Pretty fun. I recommend it if you're staying not too far away, but we came all the way from Malaga and it was difficult and expensive just to get to and from. Our guide made it super fun, and it was fun, but it was more of a river swim with jumping spots than real canyoneering. Really only had one place where we used ropes for a small repel. With a big group it started to feel long waiting for everyone to take their turns on the jumps, and then the walk back up hill in heavy wet wetsuits, with no place to shower or rinse off, and just one stall in nearby public bathroom to change in after.
