If you want to have an incredible experience, you should definitely take this tour with Troy! He picked us up at the hotel, making our lives so much easier than schlepping around Key West to get somewhere on time in an unfamiliar city. We headed out in his extremely comfortable (wonderfully air conditioned!!)van. He gave us restaurant tips along the way, pointed out things that the average tourist might not be aware of and shared the fascinating history about the early days of the Keys. We crossed over several bridges as we traveled through the Keys, getting an interesting lesson on the environment and ecosystems of the region. At Bahia Honda State Park, we saw an historic railroad bridge, iguanas (pretty exciting for city people!), and had time to dip our toes into the amazingly warm water of both the Gulf and Atlantic. From there, we went to Deer Key, where deer just wander through the neighborhood (again, pretty thrilling for city people!). We opted to skip the walk on the 7 mile bridge, but driving over it was thrilling. Our final stop was the Blue Hole. It was a quiet, magical place, with birds and other wildlife. After that, we spent the time being driven back to our hotel, chatting and sharing stories about places we’ve been (Troy is a fascinating guy, with some really interesting stories about living in Alaska and the times he’s sailed all over the world). We both really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to everyone!
Thank you such a wonderful review! I love showing people a great time! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet the both of you! Please look me up if you ever come back to the keys. Troy
Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West, Florida was a fantastic half-day adventure and a great way to experience the natural beauty and history of the Keys. One of the highlights was seeing the Key deer, a protected species that was incredible to observe. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared fascinating information about the history of the old railroad and bridge access into Key West, which added to the experience. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a mix of wildlife, history, and scenic views while visiting the Florida Keys! Going to Bahia Honda State Park was also incredible!!
Thank you so much for the kind words and for spending part of your Keys trip with us. Seeing the Key deer never gets old, and we love getting to share the story of the old Flagler railroad and the original bridges — it’s such a big part of what makes the drive down to Key West special. Bahia Honda is a personal favorite stop too; those views are hard to beat. We really appreciate the recommendation and hope to have you back on board next time you’re in the Keys. Troy
Tour was wonderful and Troy was exceptional! My family and I had a really great time.
Thank you! I really enjoyed you and your family! Don’t forget to try the Key Lime Bakery! Troy
We did an Eco tour with Troy and it was amazing! Troy was friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Keys and the wildlife that lives there. We desperately wanted to see manatees and he made that happen - thank you so much Troy!!! We also saw deer, dolphins, manta-rays, alligators and lots of lovely birds. We came from a cruise and communication and pick up were easy and Troy gave lots of good recommendations for what to do after our tour with him. He also dropped us off at our preferred spot at the end of our tour. If we are lucky enough to come back to Key West we would definitely do another tour with Troy.
Thanks so much for the awesome review! I’m really glad you enjoyed the Eco Tour — what an incredible day of wildlife sightings! Spotting the manatees was definitely the highlight, and seeing dolphins, rays, alligators, and deer all in one trip made it extra special. I had a great time sharing the history and nature of the Keys with you. Hope you make it back down this way again for another adventure Up The Keys! – Troy

Thank you so much for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience! We know it’s a bit of a long drive, so I’m really glad it paid off with Key Deer sightings, an alligator, a beautiful beach stop, and a look at the old railroad. Our guides love sharing the history of the Keys along the way, so it’s great to hear you enjoyed the stories, too. We appreciate you choosing Up The Keys Tours and hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
This was a good way to see more Key islands and the causeway. It was nice to get background history on the people, plants & animals that live here. We appreciate the hotel pickup, too!
Thanks so much for joining the tour! I’m glad you enjoyed seeing more of the Keys and learning a bit about the local history, wildlife, and plants along the way. The hotel pickup makes it easy to just relax and take it all in! Hope to see you back in the Keys again soon. – Troy
First off I wanna say we had Carol as a tour guide and she was terrific. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the keys. It was fun seeing the little key deer’s walking in front of the van. She also told us about the history of the railroad and we were able to actually walk under the area and look up and see the work that had been done all those years ago. She gave us many tips on restaurants to go to. I hope if you do take this trip, you’re able to have her as your guide.
Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic review and for taking the time to highlight Carol by name. She will be delighted to hear that her knowledge of Keys history, from the Key deer to the railroad, helped make your trip so memorable. Walking under the old rail line and seeing that engineering up close is a special experience, and we’re glad you enjoyed it, along with her restaurant tips. We truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation, and we hope you’ll come back and tour with us again—hopefully with Carol as your guide once more. Troy
We wanted the half day tour. Unfortunately, they did not have a driver and canceled the event on me that morning. We did not receive any notice about the the early arrival of 9 am and could not adjust our schedule.
I am so sorry. On our end, it showed at 9 AM departure. In your pre-booking confirmation should have showed that a lot of times the rebooking emails get lost. Again, I am really sorry. Troy
Overall, it was a super experience getting to see and hear about a few of the other islands in the keys along with the 7 mile bridge. The tour van was clean and comfortable and our tour guide/owner, Troy, was knowledgeable and most importantly, personable and entertaining. Nice tour. Would recommend.
