With time at a premium and having travelled from the UK I was keen to ensure that we made the most of all our ports of call on our March 2026 cruise. With neither my husband and I being wine buffs we had to identify an alternative to the wine tours on offer. So it was that I found Pelorus Air. From researching reviews I was convinced that this was the experience for us. And boy was I glad that I did. I can only reiterate what others have written (a) this is not the cheapest cost wise but delivers in what cannot be quantified; (b) pick up ideally located at cruise pick up and drop off point at the Tourist Information (c) communication/contact with Pelorus Air actioned promptly. This is a family business so it has the personal touch. Although I would admit to not being the best of flyers I was so entranced by the flight around the sound that I completely forgot to be nervous. The scenery was spectacular. Again as others have written a highlight has to be.landing on the beach (which it transpired was the home of our pilot) and spending some time there. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I was also intrigued by the intricacies of take off from the island. It is experiences like this that make a holiday.

A wonderful family run business! Views were amazing and definitely a must do in Picton of the Marlborough Sound.

This is an absolutely must do! Chris was friendly and knowledgeable throughout the flight. There were so many awe inspiring views and the perspective from above is so very different then what you see on the ground.

Great experience! Was so nice that they pick you up at the same place that the cruise ship shuttle drops you off. The flight was amazing and having the stop in the middle of the private landing strip was an added bonus.

This amazing flight was simply jaw dropping. Flying over the sounds was a photographer's dream. The landscape was amazing and the time spent in the sky allowed us to capture some great shots, with enough time to also just pause, soak up the views and see New Zealand at it's very best. Chris made the trip effortless with a pick up and drop off service from right outside the I Site centre, which is where the cruise shuttle buses drop people off. I will remember this trip for years to come. Thank you!

A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours viewing the Marlborough sounds from the air in all their glory.

Super cool to do, it is not cheap but fully worth it. Unique way to see the Sounds and you get an image you otherwise don't get.

I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the beauty of Queen Charlotte sound. To see the breathtaking sounds as you glide above the mountains and shorelines. This experience is a must do. The landing on the remote strip was so much fun, I don’t think that experience could be replicated anywhere.

Great tour, spectacular scenery! Chris was fabulous too and worked us in early when weather was threatening.

My wife and I did this excursion while cruising around New Zealand and we loved it! Pelorus Air is a family owned and operated business and they are awesome to work with when scheduling and give an awesome flight. When we booked, we needed a very specific flight time because of our window of availability - these folks made it happen. On the day of the tour they were exactly where they said they would be and on time. The flight was awesome - the water and islands and inlets were absolutely stunning. The landing on the grass runway next to the beach was really great and the opportunity to walk around and take in the views on the island (which is where they live) was wonderful. I can’t say enough about this outfit - I highly recommend them!!
