This was a superb day out. Our guide was super-interesting, and our driver very professional so we felt to be in expert and safe hands all day. The selection of sites that we visited made for a rounded perspective on WWI, learning about the experiences of the Belgians, French, Germans, and British Empire (as was then) soldiers and civilians. Although the day was long we never got bored, and we learned lots. Would recommend in a heartbeat!
Fabulous in-depth tour of various WW1 sites, battlefields, cemeteries and monuments. Guide Stefan was very engaging, telling the interesting stories and connections of people and hundreds of years of history in gorgeous countryside. Getting a first choice spot for the Last Post bugle ceremony in Ypres was a particular bonus. As a Canadian, Flanders Fields has huge emotional weight and I was so grateful to visit. Very happy to have chosen this particular tour.
Great Experience , great guide , valuable moving day
Well worth the experience. You would need to be interested in hearing and experiencing WW1 history. The guide we had, Fredeick, was fantastic. It's a long 13+ day. There is nice comfortable down time for lunch and tea
We got more than we realized we were getting. The guide was very up on things . Ypres is a very historic place. Dietrich was excellent...good driver on the tour as well.
This is a very comprehensive view of the Paschendale campaigns so prepare for a long day. A great insight to one of the most important battles in Workd War 1
This is a long trip (09:15 - approx 23:00) but totally worth it. During the course of the day, we saw over 10 different sites associated with the first World War. The coach was comfortable, the driver skilled and flexible, and meant that we could see so much more than could have been done in the same time using public transport. What made the tour so good was the detailed and very interesting and informative commentary from the excellent, experienced guide, Johan. He is a historian - and it showed. He knows his stuff so well and was able to point out detail and tell stories that brought each site alive. The tour includes entry to the Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres and culminates with the nightly last post ceremony at the Menin Gate. You will need to bring water and snacks/money for lunch (in Ypres) or dinner (also in Ypres). Highly recommended.
This tour was amazing. The guide Johan was very passionate .His knowledge about Belgium and the war was incredible. learnt so much on this tour. He even stopped at significant sites related to Australian and NZ soldiers when he found out a lot of the passengers were from there. The driver also did an incredible job navigating his way around very challenging roads for a bus. A long day but definitely worth it.
Excellent and extremely knowledgable guide. The tour itself did not include near enough time to visit the Flanders museum which in my mind is the highlight of the trip and very little time to eat if you wanted to see the museum at all. Would recommend for all other sites but if you want to properly visit the museum I would not recommend with group
It’s a long day, but absolutely with the time. The guide brought the WW1 history to life for me. Seeing the actual battle sites and the museums was excellent.
