Fanal -Floresta Encantada

Worth to see if you have the fog and afterwards you can do the PR13 and/or PE14 trail

We booked a secret hike with Paulo through Getyourguide. I highly recommend it because he takes you on different quieter routes away from other tourists. Its a beautiful place to hike and see the amazing trees.

It was an amazing trip with a stop by black sand beach in Seixal and Ribeira da Janela as well on top of the main stop in Fanal forest. The guide was fantastic, he didn’t rush us at all, allowing us to take several pictures (you can imagine when you have other groups as well and you just want to wait for the best moment…). We had fog as well which made it really misty and incredible. The trees are something difficult to explain in words, I really recommend this trip! Don’t leave Madeira without visiting Fanal 😎

Absolutely recommendable! We were picked up on time and were the only ones that day, so we basically had a private tour! Our guide was very friendly and accommodating and offered to make a few stops along the way. Once there, we had a great tour, and we could choose between a longer and a shorter tour. It was magical and mystical. Our guide told us a lot about the area. We were also able to make stops for photos. On the way back, we stopped at a traditional Poncha place. Definitely one of our favorite tours during our trip!

Beautiful place with its laurels several hundred years old. The weather changes quickly because there are cloudy passages (several seasons in a short time) and it must be mystical and mesmerizing in the fog. One can park in different places and access to the top is quite easy with a point to collect water in case of heat. Despite the world the space is large enough to feel comfortable. Several departures of levadas nearby.

Booking was not completed. Driver said they couldn’t take us there due to weather conditions. Driver also said he could change the booking to the next day but never did. No communication through Viator after. Complete scam and waste of time.

Wasn't excited to go up there at first. But, it was fully worth it! Weather was perfect - foggy - otherwise it doesn't come across so, few people - really cool.
