This class was absolutely one of the highlights of my stay in Oaxaca. The staff could not have been nicer to this grandma, three little girls and a baby! They made faces for the baby (who loved it), held her so I could join in the class, and totally entertained the older girls. They even helped me improve my espanol muy malo. It was a perfect afternoon!
we are three adults who totally enjoyed this informational class taught by Lucy. Learning all about the cacao process fascinating. And the hands on aspect made us better appreciate what goes into creating such a delicious treat. Highly recommended.
This was one of the best food experiences I've had in years! Lucy was brilliant and really knew her material: I had no idea there were so many different varieties of cacao! We learned a ton of truly fascinating information, and one of my favorite parts was getting to really taste and experience the difference between the different varietals and how they're processed. Absolutely incredible, and can't wait to come back next time!
I booked this class for my wife, who loves chocolate, and I must say we both absolutely loved it! From start to finish, it was hands-on, informative, and genuinely fun. We began by learning about the origins of cacao, its various types, and its cultural significance. Then we actually roasted, peeled, and ground the beans ourselves — it was incredible to see (and smell!) how the raw cacao transformed step by step into real chocolate. The instructor was passionate and knowledgeable, explaining each stage clearly and sharing stories about cacao traditions and sustainable sourcing. I appreciated the balance between education and creativity — we even got to make our very own hot chocolate. By the end, I had a new appreciation for the craft and hard work behind every piece of chocolate. It’s a great activity for couples, families, or anyone who loves food and culture. Highly recommend this class.
It's was really nice to see how the place works . We get a private intimate course with lovely Coral. She explained us about the beans, and the prosses, showed us the the types and we tasted everything (a bit, dond expect to eat alot of chocolate). At the end of it, each one of us made his own chocolate drink by cooking and grind the podwer and we drunk the chocolate, with a amazing local dessert they made for us. And we get cacao powder to get home. It's was really nice experience!
We really enjoyed the class. Very educational, and you get to make your own chocolate drink at the end. I would say we spent about 3 hours: about 1 hr of ‘class’, 1 hr tasting, 1 hr making the chocolate drink.
This was such a wonderful and intimate experience to learn about chocolate and create your own memories. Our teacher, Martin, was informative, engaging, and had an incredible wealth of knowledge on a subject I knew almost nothing about. This would be an excellent option for families or couples looking to enhance their Oaxacan experience.
This was a very informative and fun experience. We came away with our own custom blend of chocolate and chil.
Great experience - a friendly, private introduction to the world of Mexican chocolate. Martin was a great teacher! A very nice way to spend a few hours in Oaxaca (and to come back with delicious chocolate!)
Awesome experience especially with a 3 year old. My daughter loved the interactive elements of the class and tasting the cacao/ chocolate. Our instructor, Martin, was great and very patient. Would highly recommend with or without kids!
