If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We had an amazing time on this tour with Jezzy as our guide. The tour was the perfect length and combined photography "tips and tricks", brief history about the glacier, a moderate hike in the rainforest and a great whale watching experience in a safe environment. The group size was small enough that the tour was personable. Jezzy was engaging, knowledgeable and funny. My son thoroughly enjoyed the tour and especially Jezzy's photography tips on getting the best wildlife photos. We saw sea lions, humpback whales, so many eagles, black bears, and a porcupine! Highly recommend booking this tour and requesting Jezzy as your guide!
Julian is a great guide. He told great stories about his experience in Alaska and was able to give us amazing insights about the area and the history behind it. He was also very funny! The sights were amazing, and the photography opportunities were endless.
This was a cruise excursion through Oceania. It was a fabulous trip. The whale watching was incredible. Our guide, Grace was awesome. She gave us lots of good information and tips on taking pictures and cameras in our phones. The well watching was my favorite excursion.
Haylee was a wealth of knowledge, was helpful, made things interesting and you can tell just from the way she presents herself that she truly loves her job and is passionate about the area and all it has to offer. We got to see and do a little bit of everything, wilderness walks, glacier and waterfall viewing and whale watching. The driver was excellent (I think her name was Katie), and Captain Levi was also great.
Jeffrey Muenzmay and Emma were our guides. They were truly passionate about educating us in the connection between the glacier on land and the whales at sea. The hike was very easy but worth it. Emma our vessel captain went the extra nautical mile to ensure we saw multiple whales. The only thing we regretted was not wearing more layers and waterproof shoes. So don’t make our mistake and don’t miss this adventure which only allows up to 19 people at a time. It’s truly a personal approach we appreciated.
Very fun, very well informed tour guide, and a lot of cool sights and animals
Amazing. We saw no less than 6 whales. Sealions, eagles. Very knowledgeable and passionate.
Rob, the captain, took us out to a wonderful spot to watch Humpback Whales. We saw quite a few, waterspouts and tail wags included. It was really incredible to see these magnificent creatures. James did a great job telling us about whales and their habits and biology. We then saw a bunch of Sea Lions on a buoy, with younger ones trying to get up on it but the big fellas not having v if!! Very funny to watch and hear! James then took us on an informative and fun hike up to the Mendenhall Glacier through the temperate rainforest of the Tongass region. He taught us some excellent photo tips here as well! I’m not telling. You’ll have to go for yourself. 😉 I learned a lot and really enjoyed the whole experience. They also had delicious snacks in compostable bags, and water in cups not plastic bottles so doing their part environmentally as well. Gustavo, our driver, got us safely from place to place.
We were very pleased with our Gastineau Guiding tour. We did an easy hike to a view of Mendenhall Glacier, followed by a great whale watching cruise. Our guide, Elisabet, was very enthusiastic and likable. She gave us just the right amount of information about what we were seeing. It was a group of 19, so not an unwieldy amount of people. The logistics were seamless and as a result, the day was very relaxing.
We booked this thru our cruise and it was money well spent. Zach was so knowledgeable and shared so many facts about the forest leading to the glacier as well as about the whales when we were on the water portion. Captain Randy got us to the right spot to see Kelp and Flame up close. Special bonus we saw sea lions too. Highly recommend taking this tour if you’re in Juneau.
