Durante esta caminhada, você visitará o templo na companhia de nosso guia experiente. Nós também caminharemos pelas áreas circunvizinhas onde você pode ver Mylapore em todo seu caos abarrotado. A caminhada nos leva por pequenas ruas com casas de estilo antigo, através de lojas de seda, lojas que vendem música e memorabília religiosa, auditórios "kutcheri", etc. Visite o Templo Kapaleeshwara, a Igreja de Santhome e caminhe pelas ruas de Mylapore durante esta excursão de 3 horas. O passeio é principalmente a pé com um pequeno trecho em um auto-rickshaw (tuk-tuk local) que são organizados e incluídos no passeio e terminará com bebidas indianas do sul.

Mylapore é - e tem sido em algum sentido sempre - o epicentro religioso e cultural do povo tâmil. A aldeia de Mylapore é anterior a Chennai. Um grande templo da costa dedicado a Shiva ficava no antigo e próspero porto marítimo, até que os portugueses chegaram em meados do século XVI. Eles destruíram o templo, criaram uma colônia portuguesa na costa e empurraram Mylapore para a costa, onde ainda permanece hoje. O templo de Shiva foi reconstruído há 300 anos e é chamado de Templo Kapaleeswara. É um belo exemplo do estilo dravidiano puro, com gopurams e mandapams, e é o epicentro em torno do qual a área de Mylapore é construída. A Igreja de San Thome, também conhecida como Basílica da Catedral de São Tomé e Santuário Internacional de São Tomás, é uma basílica católica romana em Santhome, na cidade de Chennai, na Índia.No final da excursão, paramos no popular Saravana Bhavan para lanches e café.
