“Deixaremos Puerto Viejo às 7:45 da manhã e dirigiremos por cerca de 30 minutos até a Reserva Indígena Bribri. Lá, conheceremos uma família indígena do clan Dutsuwák que compartilhará sua cultura, tradições e conhecimento ancestral de plantas medicinais. Os participantes irão explorar um jardim de permacultura, saborear frutas de cacau frescas e participar do processo de fabricação de chocolate tradicional. Na maioria dos casos, seu Guia será um Guia Bribri nativo do clã Duriwak Bribri. No caminho de volta, paramos em uma bela cachoeira nas montanhas de Talamanca, onde os hóspedes podem desfrutar de uma natação refrescante na piscina natural sob as cachoeiras. Depois desta pausa relaxante, voltaremos a Puerto Viejo.” Muito obrigado.

O visitante estará em uma família indígena do Dutsuwák, ouvirá parte da história indígena, verá e receberá explicações sobre as plantas medicinais, provará uma fruta de cacau e, finalmente, fará chocolate.

Braulio was very professional and informed. He seems quite passionate about the preservation of indigenous ways of life and the continued wellbeing and prosperity of Bribri people into the future. He is also open about his own life experience as a local and was very informative on what life is like in Talamanca/southeast Costa Rica--all the natural beauty, destructive history and influence of US fruit companies, indigenous autonomous zones, lack of job opportunities, agriculture. Very fascinating--was as fascinated by his description of his own life as by the Bribri village. The chocolate is delicious by the way, and the waterfall and pineapples at the end cap it off great. Would recommend, also if you want locally made souvenirs like tribal masks, the Bribri village has them much more affordable than souvenir shops and you're directly supporting indigenous people trying to make a living in a way that preserves their culture under threat of fading away. Also, the drive in Braulio's van from Puerto Viejo to the Bribri village is gorgeous, jungle mountains and rivers and you can see across a misty valley to the hills of Panama.

Braulio, along with the Bribri family at the reservation were so kind to show us the rich history and technique of chocolate making as well as knowledge of medicinal herbs. This tour made me appreciate this country so much more. I recommend 100%! Pura Vida!

Braulio was so awesome! Very patient and knowledgeable as he explained so much about the area. The Bribri experience was so essential if you are visiting the area, and being able to tour the reserve, make cacao paste, learn some indigenous history/Bribri phrases AND see a gorgeous waterfall off the beaten path was more than worth it. Highly recommend if in the area and have the day to spend!
