A Alhambra, localizada na colina Sabica, é uma cidade palatina andaluza. Seu nome vem da cor avermelhada de suas paredes, proveniente da argila da própria terra (Al-Hamra em árabe). É formado por um grupo de palácios, jardins e fortalezas onde havia uma cidadela na própria cidade de Granada. Sua principal função era servir de alojamento para o monarca e a corte do Reino Nasrid de Granada. Existem também assentamentos cristãos, como o palácio de Carlos V e a igreja de Santa Maria, construída no topo da antiga mesquita. É um dos monumentos mais visitados da Espanha e foi declarado Patrimônio da Humanidade em 1984. Aproveite a visita com um guia oficial.
A Alcazaba é a parte mais antiga de Alhambra, do árabe: القصبة al-qaṣbah (cidadela) era um recinto fortificado de caráter urbano, cuja função era servir de residência real a Mohamed I até a conclusão dos Palácios, daí sua função era puramente militar.
Os Palácios Nasridas, são um complexo palaciano da Alhambra de Granada formado por dois palácios independentes, o Palácio de Comares e o Palácio dos Leões, e anexos, Mexuar, sua construção data do primeiro terço do século XIV. O Alcázar ou "Qasr al-Sultán" era a área do palácio de Alhambra, o núcleo do reino Nasrid. Nesta área residiam os sultões, além de receberem uma audiência, deslocavam os assuntos do governo ou gerenciavam a administração do tribunal.
O palácio de Carlos V é uma construção renascentista do arquiteto Pedro Machuca. O palácio é único em seu estilo, formando uma praça com um pátio circular inscrito no interior. É a obra mais marcante do Renascimento espanhol.
O Generalife é a vila com jardins usados pelos reis muçulmanos de Granada como um local de refúgio e descanso. Foi concebida como uma vila rural, onde jardins ornamentais, pomares e arquitetura foram integrados nas proximidades de Alhambra. O nome que damos ao complexo de Generalife significa literalmente Yannat al-Arif: "O Jardim do Arquiteto", uma alusão aos jardins e pomares que forneciam frutas e legumes à corte de Nasrid. No entanto, o palácio para o qual estamos indo, projetado como um local de descanso para o monarca, foi o que o poeta Ibn al-Jayyab chamou de "a casa real da felicidade".
El Partal integra vestígios arqueológicos e arquitetônicos correspondentes a salas palatinas. Seu nome em árabe significa pórtico e refere-se aos restos da residência do sultão Muhammad III, o norte e o mais antigo. Nestes jardins, você pode ver os restos de vários palácios, pois essa área era habitada pela nobreza muçulmana. O mais importante foi o Palácio de Yusuf III, com uma planta semelhante ao Palácio de Comares, tristemente demolida no século XVIII. Os Jardins Parciais são um lugar incrível para passear ou parar durante a sua visita ao Alhambra em Granada.

We expected more structure, details and interesting facts during this tour. The information was presented in a kind of semi random fashion. No supplemental materials (maps, floor plans, timeline diagrams were used). The guide was pretty unenthusiastic and just led us trhough Generalife, palaces and fortress with ability to take quick selfies. We expected much more especially after our free walking tour of the city that has offered all of the above.

Take a local bus from Granada town to the meeting point. Alhambra is on the top of the hill and the route is really steep. Nasrid palace is absolute gem so book it with the tour. Wear comfortable shoes as the tour lasts 3 hours.

I wish to warn all travelers about this agency. Their website is structured to appear among the top results on search engines, misleading users and effectively posing as the official channel. I purchased tickets for the Alhambra only to discover afterward that the price they charged is four times higher than the actual cost from the official vendor (Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife). Once on site, speaking with the staff at the official ticket office, I confirmed that I am not at all the first to fall into this trap and that the situation is unfortunately well known to everyone locally. I find it scandalous that these platforms are allowed to profit in this way by speculating on tourists' misinformation. If you want to visit the Alhambra, make sure to purchase only and exclusively from the official website of the Patronato to avoid this enormous unjustified extra expense. Stay away from it.

Not for people with walking disability. The organization is poor. Backwards and forwards. People sending you one way and then another. Not very friendly or helpful staff either. Poor signage when we saw any. Sandra, our guide was excellent
