Shemakha, cidade, leste e centro do Azerbaijão. Cidade de Shamakhi, capital do antigo estado de Shirvan, considerada uma das regiões mais ricas culturalmente do nosso país. É legitimamente declarado o centro da poesia e da viticultura do Azerbaijão; a reputação precede-a e por isso as palavras amáveis sobre a beleza desta cidade espalham-se por todo o mundo. Lá você terá a oportunidade de visitar a Mesquita Juma, cuja estrutura grandiosa chama a atenção de qualquer pessoa. Você será informado sobre a história do Islã no Azerbaijão, o que acrescenta simbolismo à mistura, considerando que a Mesquita Juma é o templo muçulmano mais antigo de todo o Cáucaso. Voltando à estrada, seguimos ao longo do Passo da Montanha Mugan, as paisagens seguindo-nos até ao noroeste do Azerbaijão.
Depois de um longo dia cheio de eventos, nos estabelecemos no meio do verde rico de Ismailli para almoçar. Toda a atmosfera do lugar e a refeição de três pratos cheia de comida tradicional trarão uma experiência verdadeiramente majestosa que será lembrada pelos turistas por muito tempo. No final de nossa pausa, também compartilharemos chá em copos azerbaijanos tradicionais chamados armudu. Em Ismailly, visitaremos a Ponte Zernava - uma ponte de suspensão pitoresca que se estende por uma caverna de montanha profunda. Yeddi Gozel Waterfall (Seven Beauties) é uma pitoresca cachoeira de sete camadas localizada perto da aldeia de Vandam em Gabala, Azerbaijão, rodeada por montanhas exuberantes e florestas. É popular por suas trilhas de caminhada refrescantes e íngremes para os níveis superiores, estandes de chá e ambiente natural paisagístico, fotogênico e relativamente frio.
Neste ponto chegamos finalmente à magnífica cidade de Gabala, capital do distrito de Gabala. A sua existência está entrelaçada na história do Azerbaijão desde os tempos antigos, remontando à Albânia caucasiana, quando desempenhou o papel de capital, agora transformada numa grande estância de esqui com um dos hotéis mais famosos da região “Tufandag” localizado lá. As vistas desses lugares podem ser contempladas do alto dos cabos do teleférico, que se estendem pelo território. Ali está situado o ponto mais alto da região, a Montanha da Bela Adormecida, que se eleva a mais de dois mil metros acima do nível do oceano mundial.

Our trip to Shamakhi and Gabala was absolutely amazing and perfectly balanced between history, relaxation, and stunning nature. We started the day by visiting the Juma Mosque of Shamakhi, one of the oldest mosques in the Caucasus. It was a powerful and peaceful way to begin the journey. The architecture, history, and spiritual atmosphere make it a must-see stop that gives real meaning to the trip. After Shamakhi, we continued toward Gabala, and the scenery on the way was already breathtaking. The resort area was beautiful and well organized, offering a calm and relaxing environment surrounded by mountains and greenery. The visit to the lake was especially relaxing, with fresh air and panoramic views that are perfect for photos and quiet moments. The waterfall was another highlight — fresh, natural, and incredibly refreshing, making it one of the most memorable spots of the day. And a very important tip: don’t leave Gabala without buying baklava! The local shop that Naz recommends is absolutely worth it. Fresh, delicious, and authentic — easily some of the best baklava we tasted during the entire trip. Once again, Naz made the experience even more special with her kindness, positive energy, and cultural knowledge. She knows exactly where to go, when to go, and what to try, turning a simple trip into a truly rich cultural experience. I highly recommend the Shamakhi & Gabala trip to anyone visiting Azerbaijan — it’s a beautiful mix of history, nature, relaxation, and local flavors.
Naz was a great guide who shared great information. The snowfall was the best part of our tour. Time at each stop was adequate. The yeddi gozel waterfall was spectacular - the trees and landscape right after a snowfall was just BREATHTAKING. Never seen anything like it before.
