Chegamos ao ponto de referência mais famoso de Wensleydale, o Bolton Castle do século 14, que já abrigou Mary Queen of Scots, onde você terá a oportunidade de apreciar e fotografar as magníficas vistas sobre Wensleydale, aprender um pouco sobre a história da região em seu Guia, ou apenas tome um Yorkshire Brew na sala de chá do castelo medieval - a escolha é sua!
Em seguida, tomamos a rota panorâmica em direção a Hawes, passando por Askrigg, a vila fictícia de Darrowby, na série de TV James Herriot All Creatures Great e Small.
Passamos uma hora e meia em Hawes, a mais alta cidade do mercado da Inglaterra, onde você pode almoçar e provar os queijos artesanais de cortesia no mundialmente famoso Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Center, visitar o Museu Rural de Dales ou apenas explorar o lojas e cafés típicos da cidade - a escolha é sua!
Deixamos Hawes e viajamos para o coração do Parque Nacional de Yorkshire Dales para algumas paradas fotográficas enquanto passamos pelas pitorescas aldeias de Dales ao longo da sinuosa rota do rio Wharfe.
Chegamos à tradicional vila de Kettlewell em Dales, tornada internacionalmente famosa em 2003 como o principal local de filmagem do filme Calendar Girls. Você pode explorar a vila e aprender mais sobre a verdadeira história por trás do filme, ou apenas desfrutar de uma cerveja ou café com os habitantes locais em um dos pubs e cafés - o que você preferir!
Continuamos nossa jornada pela bela paisagem do Parque Nacional, passando por Kilnsey Crag e pela vila de Grassington enquanto atravessamos as colinas de Nidderdale, uma área de grande beleza natural.
Por fim, haverá uma pequena parada na encantadora cidadezinha de Pateley Bridge, vencedora da categoria no Great British High Street Competition em 2016, onde você tem a opção de visitar “A loja de doces mais antiga do mundo” (Guinness Book 2014 Registros). Saímos de Pateley Bridge e voltamos para York.

We had a wonderful private Yorkshire Dales tour with Best of Britain and our guide, Martin. Our group of six ranged in age from 19 to 85, and Martin did an excellent job making the day enjoyable and comfortable for everyone. He picked us up and dropped us off directly at our house, which made everything incredibly easy and stress-free. Throughout the day he was very accommodating about comfort breaks for the more seasoned members of our group, and never made us feel rushed. We visited so many beautiful places including Bolton Castle, Aysgarth Falls, Masham, Hawes, Grassington, Wensleydale Creamery, and several filming locations from All Creatures Great and Small, including the church where James and Helen were married. Martin was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out interesting scenery, landmarks, and local details that we never would have noticed on our own as UK transplants. He also happily pulled over whenever we wanted photos, which we really appreciated. Martin was kind, professional, and clearly cared about making sure we had a good experience. He even provided water bottles for the group, which was such a thoughtful touch. You could tell he genuinely enjoys sharing Yorkshire with visitors. This was a lovely way to see the Dales without the stress of driving ourselves, and I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone wanting a relaxed, scenic, and personalized day exploring the area.

We had a fantastic day out. Chris our driver was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He was very friendly and quickly worked out what things we would like to see. The Dales were stunning. Bolton Castle was decorated for Halloween. So many things to see. Cheese tasting in the Wensleydale creamery. Lunch there was 1st class. Minibus was clean and comfortable. I couldn't fault anything. Big thank you to Chris as he made our day great. I would definitely book a tour again.

We had such a great time. Our guide, Howard, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and history and sites. We had plenty of opportunity to get out and explore, take pictures and see many sights. Would highly recommend this tour if you want to see the Dales.

Had the best day out with Howard yesterday. As a Yorkshire Dales local there was nothing he didn’t know. His commentary and knowledge made for the best day out - and not even the rain and wind could ruin our day! Get on this tour!!

The Coit try side was beautiful beyond my expectations. And, we learned much more about the places we drove through and stop to visit because our guide was so knowledgeable of the history, geography and current lifestyle of the area and engaging

Howard was a wonderful guide through the dales, where he was brought up. He neither explained too much nor too little, which is a rare capacity in a guide. He navigated all the narrow roads (lanes?) with skill and was ready to stop whenever we wanted pix. The villages are charming, including those where both versions of "All Creatures Great and Small" were filmed, but the real star of the tour is the gorgeous countryside.
