O nome deste mosteiro é traduzido como o "Monasterio da Cruz". O Mosteiro de Jvari é o mosteiro ortodoxo georgiano do século VI perto de Mtskheta. Junto w ITh outras estruturas históricas de Mtskheta, é listado como um património mundial pela UNESCO. O Mosteiro de Jvari fica no topo da montanha rochosa na confluência dos rios Mtkvari e Aragvi, com vista para a cidade de Mtskheta, que foi anteriormente a capital do reino da Iberia.
Uma obra-prima da arquitetura georgiana do século XI. Cerca de 10 - 15 minutos a pé do estacionamento. Mtskheta, uma das cidades mais antigas da Geórgia, foi fundada pelas antigas tribos mesquianas no século 5. A UNESCO reconhece IT como um site da era do mundo IT devido ao seu significado histórico e vários monumentos culturais. IT foi a capital do Reino Iberico da Geórgia desde o século III aC até o século V dC. Superb day tour from Tbilisi to a number of interesting sites, including the slightly surreal Stalin museum. Zura, my guide, was exceptional and made the experience both informative and fun. Highly recommended.
We decided to book this Tour to explore a bit more of the history and culture outside of Tiblisi. Zura was an excellent guide, we felt at ease with him from start to finish and we left the tour with a much better understanding and feel for the people, history and culture. Everything was on time, communication was great, car comfortable. Would highly reccomend you book this tour, you won't regret it and the context made the rest of our time in Tiblisi more enjoyable. I took my wife and kids to Georgia for a long weekend and we only had time for one guided tour. I'm glad I chose this one. We really got to see a lot of the attractions around Tbilisi. The visit to the Chronicles at the end of the day was amazing, as we had the sunset there. Zura is not just a guide and driver, he is a compassionate and thoughtful man with a great sense of humour. We had a lot of fun together and I hope to see him again one day. The Georgian driving style is a little different than what we are used to, but Zura navigated and drove in a manner that made us feel safe even though the other drivers don't really seem to follow any rules. Overall, it was a great day for both us parents and our teenagers.

Zura is a great guide with a lot of knowledge, but also charisma. He made the trip a lot more fun than what I can imagine most guides do. He is also a very safe and smart driver, especially compared to the average Georgian driver, which have a quite different driving style than what we are used to from Europe. Zura made sure we always felt safe on the road, and I highly recommend his service
