As Cavernas de Elephanta estão situadas no oeste da Índia, na Ilha de Elephanta (também chamada de Ilha de Gharapuri), que destaca duas colinas isoladas por um vale estreito. A pequena ilha está salpicada de vários vestígios arqueológicos antigos que são as únicas declarações ao seu rico passado social. Eles estão localizados na Ilha Elephanta, ou Gharapuri (literalmente "a cidade das cavernas") no porto de Mumbai, a 10 km (6.2 mi) a leste da cidade de Mumbai, no estado indiano de Mahārāshtra. This was our first tour in Mumbai and it was a lovely experience. Shruti met us at the meeting point on time and made sure we had water before going in the boat. On arrival we met Manoj, a local who has lived on the island his whole life. He made sure we were looked after and even bought us some local lemon juice (sweet and salty). Manoj was very informative and got us into the caves hassle free! Crowd wasn’t too bad but we went during monsoon season and were lucky to get across!

Shruti and Manoj were amazing!! They gave us so much local knowledge including pointing out interesting places and facts on the journey over and the incredible information on the statues that Manoj provided. He even encouraged us to try a sweet and salty lemon drink before heading up which I'd massively recommend!
