Highly recommend!

Our tour experience with Pene and his wife Kyoko was above and beyond! We had a large group of 26 people (18 adults and 8 kids) on a family reunion arriving to Nagasaki by cruise. From the get-go, Pene was exceptionally communicative (with fantastic English!) and thoughtful in helping us plan our tour, answering all our questions, thinking through all the details/logistics and presenting multiple itinerary options to ensure we would have the best experience possible. Sure enough, when our Nagasaki tour day came, everything went smoothly from start to finish and exceeded our expectations. Pene and his wife Kyoko are a fantastic team who not only gave us a wonderful tour and thorough history of Nagasaki, but were also incredibly supportive of our group throughout the day. They gave all the kids personalized goodie bags (huge hit!), played with the kids while the adults toured the Atomic Bomb Museum and checked in with us throughout the day in case we needed to make any itinerary adjustments. We couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend booking with Pene and Kyoko!

Exceptional Private Tour in Nagasaki

We had a diverse group (26 people ages from 76 to 6 month old) traveling together on a tight schedule (must be back on the cruise ship by 6:30 pm). Pene and Kyoko provided a private tour so wonderful and memorable for us. His knowledge about the history and culture of Japan presented in easy-to-understand English was a rare find in Japan (from my prior experiences). His customer oriented flexibility to fit our last minute changes (due to a typhoon and rainy weather) was phenomenal. Compared to our private VIP tour in Disney World in Florida, Pene was exceptional in every way and at a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend Pene and his private tour in Nagasaki to y'all.

Fantastic day trip - highly recommend

We had a big group of 26 people in our family reunion - 18 adults and 8 kids. The youngest child was an infant and the oldest at 12 years old. Nagasaki was the first port of call on our cruise and there was pressure to find a fun, interesting and flexible excursion that we could all do as a family. From first contact, Pene was above and beyond - his comprehensive emails explaining options in perfect English, multiple options in case the weather or children needed a break, suggestions for what we could do and how (we had two transportation methods - tour minivans and taxis) and reliable responses. From early emails to WhatsApp messages as we got closer to the date, he was always quick to respond and thorough in his communication. This was huge, as it put our minds at ease on this big trip. The tour itself was even better than expected somehow. Pene and his wife Kiyomi prepared surprise treats for each child (labeled with their name and with goodies that matched each of their interests) and brought energy, interest in us and a warmth and cheerfulness that carried us through the rest of our 10 day trip. He called audibles when we had to make an emergency bathroom break, gave us an awesome history lesson and story that connected and built up with each physical stop we made - which kept even the 12 year old tween interested - and did it all with ease and support for us. It was phenomenal. From planning to execution wrapped up with clear and caring communication, this was the best we could have asked for. I highly recommend Pene for your trip to Nagasaki. We felt like we were family by the end of the trip and got more than we asked for.

Hi Jeff! Of all the wonderful things you posted here, my friend, it was the fact you felt like family by the end that moves us most. I felt like you all were once we gathered at the cruise ship terminal. You were all such a pleasure to take around the city. And the kids were absolute stars. I did not expect for them to hold up as well as they did. Especially with the weather and the history heavy content. They’re a credit to you all. Thank you for your kind words and for choosing us for your Nagasaki stop. Please let us know if any of your family come out these ways again. Our warmest regards Pene and Kyoko

Pene is one of the best tour guides we have ever had. He was organized, punctual, pleasant, and knowledgeable of the history of Nagasaki and of Japan in general. His wife was certainly a bonus. Amazing tour service, everything above and beyond!

This was our first time visiting Nagasaki on a port stop during a 9-day cruise. We found Explore Kyushu Tours on Viator and reached out with only a general idea of what we wanted to see. To make things even more challenging, we were traveling with a huge group of 26 people and weren’t sure anyone could accommodate us. From the very first message to the final details, the level of communication Pene provided to me, my sister-in-law, and my mother as we worked through sightseeing priorities and logistics was absolutely unmatched. Not only was he incredibly patient in answering our countless questions about the sights, weather, and timing, but he was also exceptionally thoughtful in planning around our family’s unique dynamics and relationships. He spent so much time writing detailed, personalized emails that I was genuinely astonished to learn this is only a part-time job for him. Leading up to our tour, Pene was beyond thorough. During the week of our visit, he sent detailed information about meeting points, weather preparation, and exactly what to expect. He and his wife, Kyoko, put so much heart into every detail. They prepared treat and snack bags for the children, carefully considered food allergies, and even brought extra diapers for the 6-month-old baby in our group. Coordinating transportation for 26 people-including multiple taxis and mini vans (costs that were also covered) couldn’t have been easy, yet everything ran seamlessly. And the icing on the cake was the incredible history Pene shared throughout the tour. His knowledge was remarkable, but what made it truly special was the way he told the stories. You could feel his passion for Nagasaki, and it made every stop so much more meaningful. I truly cannot recommend Pene and Kyoko enough. Thank you both for crafting the perfect itinerary and giving our family such a memorable day in Nagasaki. Arigatou gozaimasu, and we hope to see you again in Nagasaki someday!

The kids were such stars with the weather and the busy schedule. If you are ever back in Nagasaki, we would love to see you all again. Many thanks and our warmest regards. Pene & Kyoko

Nagasaki Tour - 10/10 Recommend!!

We had the pleasure of using Explore Kyushu Tours for an excursion in Nagasaki during a cruise around Japan. Beginning with the communication prior to the excursion, Pene and Kyoko were incredibly thorough, considerate of the variety of needs in our party, and flexible in determining which sites to visit. Pene's profession as a high school teacher became obvious as he shared the compelling history and cultural dynamics of Nagasaki in an engaging and interactive way, adding to the narrative as we progressed through the sites. I honestly could have just listened to his storytelling for hours, it was so fascinating. Kyoko was so sweet with our young kids and went above and beyond by bringing thoughtful treat bags for each child, as well as watching our kids outside while the adults entered the atomic bomb museum. We were also a very large group with over 25 individuals, and Pene and Kyoko did a fantastic job coordinating the logistics of transporting and guiding us throughout the city. Overall, the tour far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend!
