“Onde tudo começou”: Na colina da Cidade de Davi, bem abaixo do Muro das Lamentações, a Cidade de Jerusalém nasceu há milhares de anos. É aqui que a Bíblia e a arqueologia se encontram. É uma viagem fascinante pelos mistérios do passado, do Rei David a Jesus de Nazaré, que assumem uma nova e emocionante dimensão, e uma vista panorâmica da antiga Jerusalém, são apenas parte das experiências que o esperam no local. O Muro das Lamentações é o local mais próximo do "Santo dos Santos" do Monte do Templo para os judeus orarem e tem sido o foco da oração, esperanças e sonhos judaicos por centenas de anos. A santidade é palatável.
Este museu é único em sua localização - o porão de um edifício residencial. Abriga os restos arqueológicos de vilas opulentas do século I dC, provavelmente pertencentes a sacerdotes que serviam no Templo de Jerusalém. Mais importante, eles testemunham a destruição de Jerusalém pelos romanos em 70 dC.
Espalhadas por todo o Bairro Judeu estão cápsulas do tempo arqueológicas de seu passado antigo e recente. Vamos explorar esses locais e construir lentamente o quebra-cabeça que compõe a turbulenta história de Jerusalém.

O bairro cristão abriga muitas igrejas e campanários que representam o mundo multifacetado do cristianismo, se o tempo permitir visitaremos algumas "jóias secretas" espalhadas por suas ruelas. Mas certamente pararemos no lugar mais importante da cristandade - a Igreja do Santo Sepulcro.
A Igreja do Santo Sepulcro é reverenciada pelos cristãos de todo o mundo como um dos locais possíveis para a Crucificação e Ressurreição de Jesus. Localizado no Bairro Cristão da Cidade Velha e administrado pelas Igrejas Católica, Ortodoxa, Armênia e Copta, é considerado por muitos 'o local mais importante da cristandade'.
Originalmente construído por Herodes, o Grande, como seu palácio particular em Jerusalém, que se tornou a sede do governo para prefeitos romanos, reis e rainhas cristãos e muçulmanos, o Museu da Cidadela é um tesouro de história em camadas. Suas galerias abrigam belas exposições de diferentes períodos históricos da cidade, sua torre mais alta tem uma vista deslumbrante de 360 graus da cidade velha e nova, e suas recentes escavações guardam o segredo para a possível localização do julgamento de Jesus nas mãos de Pôncio Pilatos.
É aqui que concluímos nossa jornada, na cúspide entre o velho e o novo. Sinta-se à vontade para voltar aos antigos mercados da cidade para fazer compras ou dirigir-se aos novos mercados e restaurantes da cidade. Jerusalém tem muito mais histórias para contar. Apreciar!

I’ve traveled a great deal internationally, but I’ve never had such an outstanding experience like this one. Uri commands a rare combination of exceptional knowledge of history, geography, and faith with a warmed-hearted care for deep, meaningful experience. I’m sitting in the airport on my return already contemplating how to bring Uri to the US. He is a true gem; quite probably the best tour guide in all of the Holy Land.

We couldn't have had a better guide to Jerusalem. Uri Goldflam is not only an expert on the entire history of Israel and the city of Jerusalem but is able to teach us in a way that is easy to understand and retain the information. By the end of the tour, I understood why we started where we did. As the day progressed, I could see how it was tied together. From the topography, architecture, archeological sites, history of the faith, occupation of foreign governments, the destruction of and rebuilding of the city, Uri had a complete and comprehensive knowledge that he easily explained to us. At no point did I ever feel uncomfortable asking a question or asking for clarification. He also knows the best places to stop for lunch or a 😌 relaxing place to get an iced coffee. I can't wait to come back and hire Uri for other tours of Israel. This was educational, fun, and spiritual; everything and more I wanted out of our tour!!
