A Grande Mesquita foi construída em um local que ocupa 416 mil m2 (4,480 mil pés quadrados) e o complexo se estende para cobrir uma área de 40 mil m2 (430 mil pés quadrados), a Grande Mesquita foi inaugurada pelo sultão de Omã em 4 de maio de 2001, cinco minaretes foram construídos em torno dos locais da mesquita o minarete principal (90 metros, 300 pés) de altura. A sala de oração é quadrada em forma e 74.4 por 74.4 metros (244 por 244 pés) tem uma cúpula central que se eleva a uma altura de 50 metros (160 pés) acima do chão, a cúpula é adornada espectacularmente do interior e é uma grande atração turística em si mesma, o principal Musalla (sala de oração) pode acomodar mais de 6.500 adoradores, o design principal do interior é o tapete de oração que cobre o chão da sala de oração, ele contém, 1.700 milhões de nós, pesa 21 toneladas e levou quatro anos para produzir, e reúne as tradições clássicas persa Tabriz, Kashan e design Isfahan 28 cores em tons variados foram usados.
Da Grande Mesquita no caminho para o mercado de peixes conduzimos através da área de ministérios e embaixadas também conduzimos através da maravilhosa rua da praia, visitamos o Mercado de peixes e legumes, os povos locais pagam e vendem peixe e frutos do mar frescos.
Do mercado de peixe, apenas uma curta distância de carro para Mutrah Souq (mercado) visite Mutrah Souq, o maior Souq tradicional de Omã, Mutrah Souq é um dos mais antigos mercados em Omã que remonta a duzentos anos, está localizado ao lado do porto de Muscat e tem visto um imenso comércio na era da vela, sendo estrategicamente localizado no caminho para a Índia e China, foi nomeado após a escuridão por causa dos stands e bancos lotados onde os raios solares não se infiltram durante o dia e os compradores precisam de lâmpadas para saber seus destinos, o nome do mercado tem sido desenhado especificamente da parte que se estende de Al Law Mosatiya para Khour Bimba onde o lugar é realmente cheio de lojas e bancos e a área estreita de faixas não permite a luz solar para entrar, este mercado antigo hoje apresenta todos os bancos de venda de antiguidades, tecidos aromáticos tradicionais, frança de prata, Omani, perfume e doce.
De Mutrah souq visitamos o Museu Bait Al Zubair, para uma bela exposição da cultura e da história do Omã e informações sobre a Família Real.
Continuar o seu passeio para visitar o antigo Muscat e ver o Palácio Al Alam, tem uma história de mais de 200 anos, e foi construído sob a guarda do Imam Sultan bin Ahmed, o 7o avô direto do Sultan Haitham, o palácio existente, que tem uma fachada de ouro e azul, foi reconstruído como uma residência real em 1972, o terreno interno do palácio permanece fora de limites, mas os membros do público são permitidos para parar perto das portas e tirar fotografias, o palácio é usado para funções oficiais e recebe visitantes distinguidos, quando você visita as portas principais do Palácio Al Alam, é diferente de qualquer outra capital que você visitará, o palácio em si é elegante, mas humilde em design, ao contrário das estruturas grandiosas de outras capitais, elegantemente projetado, possui muitas superfícies de mármore altamente polidas, edifícios do governo nas proximidades são brancos, com telhados e varandas em madeira no estilo tradicional Omani, embora principalmente um palácio cerimonial.
Jalali e Mirani Fortes, são fortes no porto de Muscat antigo, os fortes foram construídos pelos portugueses sob Filipe I de Portugal em 1580 em uma antiga fortaleza otomana para proteger o porto depois de Muscat ter sido saqueado duas vezes pelas forças otomanas, caiu para as forças otomanas em 1650, durante as guerras civis entre 1718 e 1747, os fortes foram duas vezes capturados por persas que haviam sido convidados a ajudar um dos imãs rivais, o forte foi extensivamente reconstruído mais tarde.
De lá visitamos a Casa Real da Ópera, ele é a majestade Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said Sultan de Omã tem sido sempre um fã de música clássica e artes, em 2001, o sultão ordenou a construção de uma casa de ópera, e foi oficialmente aberto em 12 de outubro de 2011, a Casa Real da Ópera reflete arquitetura contemporânea omã única, e tem uma capacidade para acomodar um máximo de 1.100 pessoas, o complexo da Casa Real da Ópera consiste em um teatro de concertos, auditório, jardins paisagísticos formais, mercado cultural com varejo, restaurantes de luxo, e um centro de arte para produções musicais, teatrais e ópera.

Ali is a fantastic guide who speaks excellent English and knows how to explain everything about Muscat, Omani history and culture. It was a very valuable experience. I think I've seen more in half a day than most people have seen in two days. This tour is highly recommended.

We had a half-day private visit with Haroun who proved to be a good guide and a kind person. With us there were our children of 4 and not even a year and the latter was not very cooperative for the duration of the tour but Haroun was never impatient and indeed was really cooperative even helping us in the management. All the stops were beautiful and interesting, I recommend the trip absolutely!

Jaafar was an excellent and knowledgeable guide! We went to the Grand Mosque and observed the wonderful architecture of the buildings. In addition, we went to the fish market and fruit/vegetable market and by the Al Alam Palace for pictures. We adjusted the stops and he was very understanding and accommodating.
