É um mosteiro pequeno e muito bonito, com torres redondas coroadas por cúpulas pontiagudas em forma de tenda. O mosteiro fica acima do agitado rio Rioni e está enterrado na vegetação costeira. Segundo a lenda, o mosteiro foi construído no local onde os agressores muçulmanos executaram David e Konstantin Mkheidze, príncipes georgianos, que se recusaram a aceitar o Islão. Num pequeno salão do mosteiro, numa elevação, há uma grande arca retangular com as relíquias dos príncipes piedosos canonizados pela Igreja Georgiana. Motsameta atrai multidões de turistas com uma superstição antiga: se alguém rastejar três vezes sob a arca e fizer um desejo enquanto toca nas relíquias, os príncipes David e Konstantin o concederão. O czar Bagrat III reconstruiu a igreja no século X. O edifício foi reconstruído novamente no século XIX.
O Mosteiro Gelati está localizado na região de Imereti. O mosteiro foi fundado por David, o Construtor, em 1106. Lemos no seu testamento: “O mosteiro permaneceu para o meu enterro e para a cripta dos meus filhos para sempre e sofrerei dor eterna, para que o meu filho Dimitri complete a construção”. Aqui está enterrado o maior rei da Geórgia. O conjunto inclui a igreja matriz da Assunção da Virgem, a Igreja de São Jorge, a Igreja de São Nicolau, a torre sineira, a academia e a cerca. O Mosteiro Gelati era o maior centro cultural e educacional. O complexo Gelati está incluído na lista de Patrimônios Mundiais da UNESCO.
Tskhrajvari (“Nove Cruzes”) é possivelmente o mirante mais espetacular de toda a Geórgia e, definitivamente, uma das melhores caminhadas de um dia perto de Kutaisi. Tskhrajvari é um local de peregrinação ortodoxa e mirante localizado perto da passagem de Nakerala, bem no limite das regiões de Imereti e Racha-Lechkhumi, no oeste da Geórgia. A 1.500 metros acima do nível do mar, oferece vistas incríveis das montanhas do Grande Cáucaso, incluindo os picos gêmeos de Ushba. Em um dia claro, você pode ver todo o caminho até o Mar Negro. A caminhada começa atrás da estação abandonada do teleférico de concreto. Imediatamente você começa a subir, mas com uma inclinação muito suave. A Catedral de Nikortsminda é uma Igreja Ortodoxa Georgiana, localizada em Nikortsminda, região de Racha, na Geórgia. Nikortsminda foi construída em 1010–1014 durante o reinado de Bagrat III da Geórgia e foi reparada em 1534 pelo rei Bagrat III de Imereti. A torre sineira de três andares junto à catedral foi construída na segunda metade do século XIX. Os afrescos no interior da catedral datam do século XVII. A catedral segue uma planta transversal retangular de braços curtos e tem um pequeno segmento a oeste. As fachadas da catedral são revestidas com pedras talhadas suavemente. As decorações incluem arcaturas contínuas e vários ornamentos ricos, incluindo episódios e relevos narrativos de múltiplas figuras. Nikortsminda tem uma das mais belas decorações de todas as igrejas e catedrais georgianas, já que vários estilos diferentes podem ser vistos. A catedral está na Lista Provisória para ser considerada Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO.

The tour was very diverse. We enjoyed beautiful views and visited a 2nd-century monastery. We also went fishing together. Our guide gave us plenty of time for everything; he's very knowledgeable.
Irakli is a very knowledgeable, kind, and passionate guide. We had a great time on this off-the-beaten path tour to the remote and beautiful Racha region, with a good mix of mountain/lake views, hike, and monasteries. He also was quite flexible and added optional secondary stops. He was also a great, smooth driver and gave us many helpful recommendations. Highly recommended!

Georgian Voyage- Can highly recommend this unique tour experience with a local and small guide company! This was the perfect itinerary focused on the mountains and monasteries with the bonus combination of a mini hike plus walk and a food tour thanks to our wonderful free flowing interaction with Iracli. Kudos to Iracli for picking us up from our hostel on the outskirts of Kutaisi 💯 He patiently explained the history of the various monasteries we visited and gave us real deep insights into the differences among the regions within Georgia! Given we’re a relatively physically active couple, Iracli offered to hike with us to the top of the nine crosses mountain. He even included two bonus stops after the last stop since we vibed so well! We tasted local Racha delicacies in Ambroulari and then even took a detour to visit a waterfall on the route back to Kutaisi. To top it all, he’s an avid football fan so we watched the man united match together during the journey. In short, I’d highly recommend at least a day with him in Georgia to get the perfect local experience blended with fun 🤩

My son and I had an amazing experience visiting Racha region with Saba from Georgian Voyage. Our guide Saba went above and beyond to show the best of Racha region’s lakes, mountains, waterfalls and of course monasteries. It’s hard to believe how much travel he packed in a one day trip. Also, if you want a local guide to Georgian cuisine from the region, Saba knows all the best places to eat and pair with locally produced wines. We’ll definitely be back for multi-day hiking and skiing adventures. Highly recommended.
