Nesta excursão especial, viajaremos de Siem Reap para o templo Preah Vihear na província de Preah Vihear. Preah Vihear foi construído no topo de um penhasco de 525 metros entre o Camboja e a fronteira com a Tailândia. Dá a melhor vista da floresta e aldeias. Depois de visitar o templo Preah Vihear, iremos ao grupo do templo Koh Ker. O templo mais famoso de Koh Ker é o Prasat Thom, um templo em forma de pirâmide de 30m, bem acima da planície e da floresta ao redor. Finalmente, iremos para Beng Mealea, que significa Lotus Pond em Inglês. O templo é acreditado para ser a irmã de Angkor Wat para o seu modelo similar. O templo é em grande parte não restaurado, com grandes árvores e arbustos grossos crescendo no topo da torre. Em 1962, após uma longa disputa entre a Tailândia e o Camboja sobre a propriedade, a maioria do Tribunal Internacional de Justiça (CIJ) de Haia concedeu o templo ao Camboja. Grupo de Koh Ker localizado na província de Preah Vihear, foi brevemente a capital do império Khmer entre 928 e 944 sob o rei Jayavarman IV e seu filho Hasavaraman II. Depois que o império Khmer foi estabelecido na área de Angkor (Roluos), Jayavarman IV mudou a capital em 928 quase 100 km a nordeste de Koh Ker. Aqui, um vasto número de templos foi construído sob seu reinado, até que seu sucessor retornou à área de Angkor cerca de vinte anos depois. O local de Koh Ker é dominado por Prasat Thom, uma montanha de 30 metros de altura erguendo-se acima da planície e da floresta ao redor. Excelentes vistas aguardam o visitante no final de uma subida aventureira. Garuda, esculpido nos blocos de pedra, ainda guarda o topo, embora eles estejam parcialmente cobertos agora. Hoje, apenas os buracos das vigas permanecem nas estruturas de pedra.
Beng Mealea Temple (seu nome significa "lagoa de lótus") localizado no sopé da montanha Kulen. Foi construído como templo hinduísta, mas há algumas esculturas representando motivos budistas. Seu principal material é o arenito e é em grande parte não restaurado, com árvores e arbustos espinhosos em meio a suas torres e pátios e muitas de suas pedras em grandes montes. Durante anos foi difícil chegar, mas uma estrada recém-construída para o complexo do templo de Koh Ker passa por Beng Mealea e mais visitantes estão chegando ao local. Construído no século 12, muitos estudiosos acreditam que foi o modelo para Angkor Wat. É tão maravilhoso como um templo, mas ainda está em grande parte perdido na selva. Regresse ao hotel e termine a excursão entre as 17:00 e as 18:00.

We had booked a private tour to Ko Ker and Beng Mealea. Due to the border disputes we were unfortunately unable to visit Preah Vihear. Nevertheless, thanks to the tour guide Youk and our driver San, we had a very eventful and very informative day. Our tour guide always knew about the best photo subjects and took great photos. Our driver provided us all day with cool drinks and cold towels; great service. Big compliments and thanks to both, they did a great job and brought us closer to their country and culture. We can highly recommend both.
Thean was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. It was a long day, but he really tied in the history to make the sights make more sense. Excellent job and the driver, Sreang, was super great too!
First of all, don't make the same mistake I did. Just because Angkor Wat takes credit cards, doesn't mean that Preah Vihear or Koh Ker do. Cash is required! Thankfully my guide was able to help me get that situation sorted, otherwise it would have been a terrible day. As it was, the temples were amazing and our guide, Saruon Pal, was knowledgeable and engaging and helped make it one of the most memorable days of our trip.
Amazing day visiting Preah Vihear - a temple on a Cambodia-Thailand border, inscribed onto UNESCO World Heritage List. Plus two other temples located at a distance from Angkor area. Bun Hak is a great guide. We learnt from him a lot on Cambodian ancient and recent history, contemporary politics and culture. He also showed us a great number of hidden treasures in the temples that we visited- we wouldn’t be able to find them without him. The trip truly exceeded our expectations. Ancient and very recent history (Preah Vihear); Mayan-like pyramid (Koh Ker) and one of the most beautiful and climatic temples in the jungle (Beng Mealea). It all of that just in one day. Don’t just sit in Siem Reap and it’s vicinity. Go to the neighbouring provinces and discover the beauty of Cambodia beyond Angkor.
We are a Japanese/Italian couple on their honeymoon. The three temples we visited were all stunning, I really couldn’t say which one I liked the most. Preah Vihear is definitely worth waking up early and the long drive to the border with Thailand for the magnificent scenery. Our driver and tour guide, BunHak, were really kind and very knowledgeable about the history and temples of Cambodia. He was happy to answer all our questions and show us the best places to take pictures. Thank you very much, I hope to meet you again someday!
Saruon was the best guide ever and his English was so perfect. He was also a very skilled photographer. Soeang was our driver and his driving was so smooth and steady so we had a really comfortable ride all day. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who got come to Siem Reap. Cheers!
Mr Pal and the driver were so kind! Pal-san was funny, explained in detail and took a lot of photos. He came to the front of the hotel at 5am, where we met again in the morning, and arrived at the ruins at 8am as planned! I learned a lot from seeing various ruins. The driver drove very well and it was a comfortable trip!
I’m very glad I chose this tour. If you have one day, I strongly recommend this tour, get out the dusty, noisy city centre and enjoy fresh air and spectacular view in silence from top of the mountain, where you also see Thai border. Temples you see in this tour are very different from what you can see near Angkor Wat area. On the way to Preah Vihear, I saw amazing sunrise from the car. The guide Sok Chea and the driver were really nice and looked after me very well. Guide is very knowledgeable and made the trip very meaningful. Sok Chea speaks good English and is very professional. He also took many good pictures for me. The food they ordered in lunch was also good. Make sure you wear closed walking/sports shoes (not sandal) as you walk in mountain (it’s easy walk) This tour is worth for the price.
I came across the organizer here at TripAdvisor. Communication was straightforward. My request and all emails were answered promptly. The communication was in English - as was the communication during the excursion. The hotel pickup was on time and the quite long drive to the Preah Vihear was quick. The driver, Mr. Makara, drove very quickly but always safely. My guide, Mr.Vanna, was very open-minded and friendly. He accompanied me through all the temple complexes, explained the historical background and readily gave answers to my questions. The communication was excellent, to understand his English very well - I had other experiences there as well. The whole day trip was very entertaining and I liked it very much. Especially since these temples are located off the beaten path and were correspondingly under-visited. I can only recommend this trip but also the agency!
This tour was one of the highlights in our trip, and I strongly recommend it if you don't mind the early start. Visits to those temples were a completely different experience than those in the Angkor main area, as they were less crowed. Both our guide and driver were excellent. Mr Sok Chea, the tour guide, was very knowledged, friendly and open with information, not only about history and the temples, but also about customs and daily live of present Cambodia. Car was very comfortable and our driver make sure to drive it safely. We were really happy to have made the decision of taking this tour.
