Interesting tour unfortunately the stop at the obligatory refreshment points do not leave much choice and especially the purpose at the refreshment near the meteor site and of very low quality for the rest guides exceptional coach and site.
Our tour guide Christos was wonderful. He made the whole trip very personalized and comfortable. We highly recommend getting the private tour. Meteora is stunning and well worth the trip.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear that Christos made your tour personalized and comfortable. Meteora truly is a breathtaking destination, and we're happy you found the private tour worthwhile. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again in the future!
The tour was amazing. The connections in travel were a little short for comfort, but the guide was very helpful in making sure we made it back in time. Our private tour guide Nancy was extremely nice and knowledgeable. The stories she shared with us really showed her love of the job. She even helped us find a store to do some last minute shopping before the return trip.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that Nancy made your tour special with her knowledge and helpfulness. We appreciate your understanding about the travel connections and are glad everything worked out smoothly. Hope you had an unforgettable experience exploring Meteora!
Our private tour of the Metiora site was guided by Christos. When we exited our bus from Athens at Meteor, Christos was just outside with a sign and we immediately got into his new Peugeut SUV. He took us on many tiny winding roads to tiny villages and sites of interest leading up to the monasteries, which the larger bus couldn't reach. Christos was gave an ongoing naritive of detailed information throughout. We had plenty of time at the 3 best monasteries, arriving well ahead of the large buses. (saving loading and unloading time and arriving just at the entrance) Getting into each monastery involved a long vertical treck up paths carved into and through the high rock formations that they are atop, as the monks did for centuries. At the end we had plenty of time for a hearty Greek dinner at a small family restaurant he knew. This was some of the best food, excellent tasty and tender octopus, of our entire trip. Meteora is arguably the most interesting part of upland Greece, and if you go by all means pay a bit more for the private tour -- and request Christos!
Our guide was wonderful. He showed us as much as possible in the time we had, was full of information , and got us to our bus right on time .
Excellent tour from Meteora Thrones. Chris was an amazing guide and he dropped us at a local spot for an amazing lunch. Train was cancelled due to track issues and the tour agency worked swiftly to find transport for us that fit our needs. I would highly suggest this tour. It is very unique, with the monasteries sitting high above on huge rock formations. You won’t see this in many places.
Great place but it is done in one day instead of 2.... In 2 days it was redundant and we had a lot of expectations... otherwise I recommend but in one day!
Christos was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable of the monasteries and the surrounding area. In our 4 hour window we were able to visit 3 of the 6 monasteries, more than enough, the rest we were satisfied with just seeing from viewpoints which Christos knew the best places for optimal viewing. Be prepared for the number of steps to visit, our first had 300 each way, 2nd had 200 each way, and last had 165 each way. The other most popular one closed on Mondays would have had significantly more. We were exhausted after the steps and the heat of the day, reaching 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Perhaps Sept would be a better time to visit according to Christos. Our private tour was so much better than the large tour buses, and we had much more info and I think we got to see more than if we had been on a large motor coach. I also suggest that if you want to do this tour from a cruise ship, consider doing from one of the ports closer to the area. We were only going to be in Athens this time visiting, our trip was 5 hours each way from Athens by train and bus, with 4 hours to visit the monasteries and surrounding UNESCO site.
Great place to visit. I would definitely recommend this tour. Well worth seeing. It was truly Amazing to see. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly . He would offer to take pictures for everyone. He did a great job.
It was a wonderful private tour, well planned and efficiently executed. Maria was a storehouse of interesting information. We were taken to the 3 important monasteries and covered everything we wanted to see, in the limited time available. Thank you Maria and Nick and all the best. Highly recommended.
