Volubilis é o remanescente de uma cidade romana construída no antigo local de uma cidade púnico-berbere, que foi capital do reino da Mauritânia, localizada na planície de Saïss, no norte de Marrocos, à beira do wadi Rhoumane, um rio nos subúrbios de Meknès. É um dos Patrimônios Mundiais da UNESCO.
Moulay Driss Zerhoun É famosa por ser o local do túmulo de Idris I, o primeiro grande governante islâmico de Marrocos, que dá nome à cidade.
Meknes é uma cidade no norte de Marrocos. É conhecida pelo seu passado imperial, com vestígios como Bab Mansour, um enorme portão com arcos e mosaicos. O portão leva à antiga cidade imperial. O mausoléu do sultão Moulay Ismail, que fez da cidade sua capital no século XVII, possui pátios e fontes. Aproveite para almoçar bem.

Back to my mom’s childhood lands for this excursion on Meknes. Emotional day and it was possible and wonderful thanks to Mohamed because he took us to all the places desired by my mom. We also had plenty of explanations and tips to spend a very pleasant day. A thousand thanks Mohamed!

Despite some periodic heavy rain, this was a great trip. Badr was an excellent driver who made sure that I understood the ins and outs of visiting the Volubilis ruins, the village of Moulay Idriss, and the city of Meknes. Badr was well-versed in English, and an engaging conversationalist. The highlights of the trip for me were the vast and picturesque ruins of Volubilis, and the gorgeous mausoleum of Moulay Isma’il in Meknes. A thoroughly interesting and enjoyable excursion.
