Explore o Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO em Meteora, uma formação rochosa no centro da Grécia que abriga um dos maiores e mais íngremes complexos de mosteiros ortodoxos orientais nesta excursão privada de um dia inteiro. Partindo de Atenas, passe pelas cidades cênicas de Amphissa, Lamia e Trikala antes de chegar a Meteora, o nome Meteora é usado para definir qualquer platô rochoso ou formação rochosa íngreme. Os mosteiros foram construídos entre os séculos XIV e XIX, a sua localização foi cuidadosamente escolhida para que os monges pudessem estar o mais próximo possível de Deus.

Seu motorista irá buscá-lo em seu hotel ou apartamento no início da manhã. O tempo de viagem é de cerca de 4,5 horas.
Chegamos a Meteora e visitamos três mosteiros. Deslumbrantes à primeira vista, os Mosteiros são de grande importância cultural e natural. Separadas por terremotos, desgastadas pelo vento e pela água ao longo de milhões de milhões de anos, essas imensas rochas são uma autêntica obra-prima da mãe natureza. O Meteora é uma formação rochosa na Grécia central que abriga um dos maiores e mais precipitados complexos de mosteiros ortodoxos orientais. Os seis (de um original 24) mosteiros são construídos sobre imensos pilares naturais e pedregulhos arredondados semelhantes a colinas que dominam a área local. Meteora está incluído na Lista do Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO e o nome significa "elevado", "elevado" e está etimologicamente relacionado ao meteoro. Por favor, esteja vestido com modéstia. Sugere-se que as mulheres usem saias longas e mangas compridas. Se você não tiver, você receberá uma saia em seu caminho.
Tempo livre para almoçar em uma taberna tradicional grega com seus amigos e familiares ou fazer compras em Kastraki, uma pitoresca vila perto de Meteora.
No caminho de volta a Atenas, faremos uma parada no campo de batalha das Termópilas para admirar a estátua do rei Leônidas. Leônidas foi rei da cidade-estado grega de Esparta e teve uma notável participação na Segunda Guerra Persa, onde liderou as forças aliadas gregas a uma última resistência na Batalha das Termópilas (480 aC) enquanto tentava defender a passagem de o exército persa invasor; ele morreu na batalha e entrou no mito como o líder dos 300 espartanos. Enquanto os gregos perderam esta batalha, eles conseguiram expulsar os invasores persas no ano seguinte.
Estaremos de volta a Atenas no final da tarde. O tempo de viagem é de cerca de 4,5 horas.

George Remoundos was Amazing!!! He was very knowledgable, pointed out important landmarks and buildings for us. Stopped for a lot of photos. Accomodated the kids washroom breaks. He was the best!!! If you go to Meteora, make sure to go with George. You will love it.

We had a wonderful time today on our tour of Meteora and Thermopylae. What an unbelievable place Meteora is with the monasteries perched on the mountain side. Incredible! It was worth the long drive. We spent the day with our guide George Remoundos, who was so kind, easy to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable about our journey. The drive to Thermopylae and on to Meteora was a pleasure as George not only educated us about various sites along the way, but Greece as well. Meteora is a magical, beautiful place. ancient monasteries sitting on huge sandstone columns. A mystical place with great byzantine christian art and breathtaking views . It is about 3.5 hours drive from Athens. We did a round trip in 13 hours. Worth staying overnight if you have the time. Also enjoyed the stop t historical Thermopylae, where the 300 Spartans took their last stand. Our driver George was exceptional. Was on time, very nice, knowledgeable, patient and helpful. I should add, I've used Viator a few times over the past few years and haven't regretted. So far, very good experiences. I'd recommend it

Meteora is a really beautiful and interesting place to visit. A private tour I think is the best way to do it because you get to spend more time at each monastery and maximize your time. George our tour guide was professional, specially knowledgeable and very attentive. He explained a lot of the history and interesting facts while driving from place to place, and he took us to a good restaurant with delicious authentic food at a good price. I really recommend this tour and remember to ask for George if you want to have the best experience.

If you ever have the chance to tour Meteora with George, TAKE IT! Yes, it does make for a very long day leaving out of Athens. But the drive is on good roads, George is safe driver and most importantly, he is describing some of the history of the area while driving through it. The absolute star of this tour however, has to be Meteora. One word: STUNNING!

I am still stunned by Meteora. The views were amazing, unlike any other. The monasteries had so much detail it's almost unbelievable that they were built so long ago. Our driver George took good care of us especially since it was such a long drive, he provided lots of history about the lands on the way. I would definitely do it again, you can't get enough of the views looking to and down from the monasteries. Be prepared to hike! Much less to say about Thermopylae but it's in the way so why not...
