A primeira catedral cristã de Echmiadzin foi fundada no século IV aC, cujo nome significa “lugar da descida do Unigênito”. Uma característica da Catedral é que, além do altar principal na parte oriental, há outro altar no meio, no local da descendência de Cristo. No limite da direita da Catedral Etchmiadzin há o Museu do Tesouro, onde são mantidas relíquias, roupas de igreja, bordadas com ouro e pérolas, cajados e cruzes do catholicos, numerosos objetos rituais feitos de ouro, prata e marfim. No território do complexo do mosteiro é também a residência do patriarca armênio - os católicos de todos os armênios. Também aqui você verá muitas pedras cruzadas, das quais “Amenaprakich” (1279), e a cruz-pedra dedicada às vítimas do genocídio de 1915.
O Templo de Santo Hripsime foi fundado no século VII pelo Catholicos Komitas I Aghtsetsi no lugar de um sepulcro de São Hripsime. Desde 2000, o templo de Saint Hripsime foi incluído na Lista do Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO. Duas importantes Cathlicoses armênias estão enterradas no pátio do Templo de São Hripsime. Eles são Catholicos Astvatsatur (1715-1725) e Catholicos Garaped II Oolnetzi (1725-1729).
Templo de St. Gayane foi construído em homenagem a St. Gayane no século VII no lugar da capela do século IV, que é um dos melhores monumentos da arquitetura armênia. As relíquias de Saint Gayane são guardadas na parede sul do templo, ao lado do nicho do altar. Acima da entrada ocidental, foram preservados os murais do século XVII sobre o tema do nascimento de Cristo. Perto do Templo de Saint Gayane há uma sala especial onde os animais são sacrificados e esfaqueados desde a época de São Gregório, o Iluminador. Este rito é chamado - matah, que é costume de realizar para qualquer ocasião: casamentos, nascimento de uma criança, etc.
O magnífico Templo Zvartnots, que significa “Templo das Forças da Vigília”, foi construído no século VII. O templo foi construído por 20 anos. Infelizmente, Zvartnots foi destruído por um poderoso terremoto no século XX e apenas suas ruínas permaneceram. Mas até mesmo as ruínas deste templo nos dão uma idéia de sua beleza rara e majestosa. Hoje, o Templo de Zvartnots é uma reserva arqueológica e museu fundado em 1937, onde você pode ver versões-modelo da reconstrução do templo, numerosos fragmentos esculturais, impressionantes em tamanho. As ruínas do Templo de Zvartnots estão incluídas na UNESCO como Patrimônio da Humanidade.

A very nice tour to religious places. This one is a bit shorter so not very tiering. Some beautiful churches with interesting and long history. Great time with driver Garnik and marvelous and knowledgable guide Arev!
