Desde a abertura de suas portas em 2008, o Forte Al Jahili – situado a cerca de uma hora e meia de distância de Abu Dhabi na exuberante cidade de jardim de Al Ain – tem sido um centro de atividades associadas à filosofia, cultura e património de Abu Dhabi. Al Jahili é um dos maiores fortes dos Emirados Árabes Unidos, construído na década de 1890 por ordem de Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, também conhecido como Zayed o Primeiro, como o lar de membros da família Al Nahyan.
Construído a partir de tijolos de barro secos pelo sol, os primeiros trabalhos de restauração foram realizados no forte em 1985, seguido de um grande projeto de reabilitação pelo Departamento de Cultura e Turismo - Abu Dhabi entre 2007 e 2008. Cercado por um parque exuberante, o encantador forte recebeu o prestigiado Prêmio Terra para Design e Layout Interiores em 2016.
Transformado em um centro cultural e atração turística, agora abriga uma galeria de exposições temporárias, bem como uma exposição permanente dedicada a Sir Wilfred Thesiger.

Long and tiring
The journey is long, the oasis is actually a large city with a park including the original oasis, 2 or 3 adobe buildings, you have to leave early in the morning to see the camel races, the mountain offers a view of the surroundings drowned in the mist.
We were disappointed with the visit. Furthermore, the tour operator offered us the option to make the tour private for the modest sum of €15, but since there were only two of us, we were not entitled to lunch! Jackpot for the tour operator.

Al Ain Oasis
Beautiful green farm, very large, takes about 30 to 45 minutes by walk, free entry, buggy and scooters available at extra cost. Several plantations can be seen, dates, mango, orange, banana, various flowers and plants, etc.
It is next to Al Ain Museum and Sultan Fort.
Free car parking and wash rooms, cafe are located outside.

Al Ain Tour from Abu Dhabi

Better guide/driver
Our driver spoke very poor English and therefore did not explain much of anything. Pointing out local banks was not what we went on this tour for. His driving was horrible and at one point while descending a steep and winding mountain road we had to ask him to stop using his phone. To which his response was “it was a busy time of day receiving tomorrow’s dispatch “. Even after this he continued to use his phone for the next two hours back to Abu Dhabi. There is lots to see on this tour. It would just have been nice to know what we were seeing.

Al Ain Day Tour Private
We had Al Jahili Fort, Al Ain Oasis, Sheik Zayed Palace Museum closed unfortunately that day, but lunch at Ayla Bawadi Hotel was very good. Then we went to Mubazzarah Grenn Park and Jebel Hafeet Moutain.
You absolutely must have done this tour, our driver Rahi had everything organized and everything under control.

Al Ain is worth a look!
Thank you very much for the very courteous treatment of Dubai Bar! Without this tour, we might never have been to Al Ain! It was a fulfilling time that didn’t make us feel the length of the trip!
