If you want to experience the real Beijing beyond the usual tourist spots this tour is a must. You wonder around a beautiful lake and real neighborhood where people live work and play. You see a gorgeous temple and then eat some of the best dumplings in Beijing in a fun and funky restaurant. And if you are lucky your tour guide is Linda who is charming, insightful and lovely inside and out. My favorite tour guide on a 16 day tour of China!
My adult son and I spent two-and-a-half days/ two nights in Beijing in July 2019. This tour with Anson was the highlight of our trip. His English, knowledge of Chinese history, food, beer and the Hutong was outstanding. He and his driver were came by at our hotel to pick up up on time, and took us to all the promised spots. Anson was gregarious and generous with his time and knowledge, and would have stayed out even longer with us had we not had an early appointment the following morning. We had a most excellent time. I highly recommend this tour, and Anson as a guide.

This private tour was nothing short of AMAZING. Our tour guide was so sweet and incredibly knowledgeable. After spending a few hours with her she felt like family! We were able to see parts of Beijing we never would have found. Highly HIGHLY recommend scheduling this tour, you won’t be disappointed!

This tour was my first ever experience using Viator, the site was recommended by a friend that had heard good things about how it worked for someone else they knew. BEST decision of our trip! Ching, our guide, was prompt, cheerful, knowledgeable, and arrived with private van and driver in tow. Our party of five would never have been able to find the locations we were able to visit or gain the knowledge Ching was able to provide in the span of time afforded to us. This is the ONLY way to go, its far more superior than getting absorbed in a group of strangers on a large tour in a new city. We were able comment and share freely as we had the full attention of our guide while in our private coach. We all had plenty of food and drink and there is something to be said about being escorted though the tourist areas like a VIP. We were able to move with purpose at our own pace, there was never a rush, and received tips about everything in sight. We spent a week in Beijing and a week in Shanghai as we scheduled several tours and ground transportation for 5-6 individuals, and I wouldnt change a thing with regard to using Viator to plan our tours. This is a great tour for fun-loving folks that enjoy walking, eating, and a having a cold beer to wrap it all up. Ching, thanks for a great experience!

booked this 4 hour private tour for 230 on viator, collected at 6:30pm from our hotel by our guide Roy Li and his driver. Roy was full of information as we drove to Mr Shi's, got there, sat us, and we ordered to the limit of 200 yuan 23 at time of writing, had some amazing dumplings and one beer each as our guide waited outside.

we then walked to the hutong bar with Roy explaining the history of the area, got to the bar allocated 20 minutes had a half each in the beer garden, then off to walk Houhai Lake, returning back to the hotel by the driver at 9pm. we returned to the lake area a few days later to relax in some of the bars and restaurants so worthwhile going.

i Just don't think we are private tour people and would prefer to do this tour with the option as a bigger group, both for cost and socially, as this is the first time this company has done this tour i would suggest group bookings.

enjoyable tour yes but scheduled, value for money, no.
