What we liked: Delphi and its archeological museum are beautiful. We are happy that we went to see it. View from the bus window was excellent throughout. The guide Alexandra that was with us on the bus was very nice, and gave us good context about Delphi and surroundings during the trip. Everything was on time. What we didn't like: The audioguide provided in Delphi was terrible, the least informative audioguide I ever encountered. The bus seats were uncomfortable - and that's a problem, cause it's a three hour trip to Delphi - and three hours back. The lunch that we pre-paid for was the worst we had in Greece.
This was just a bus ride. There was no guided tour on site. We were given an device that was supposed to explain the site but it had all kinds of issues and never worked properly. My wife had the issue. We just had to walk around and see everything ourselves.
Very informative bus ride and Delphi was amazing! The local lunch stop was also fantastic! Kudos to George who was an awesome guide.
We liked our group leader and bus driver. Pick-ups were well organized and the bus was confortable. All the activities were on time and we certainly liked the views and Delphi site. The length of the visit is a little short to see both the site and the museum (which we skipped) but overall we enjoyed our experience.
We were transported efficiently from Athens (there are four pick-up points) to Delphi. We were issued with Motorola mobile phones with the VR app. After arriving at Delphi we were left to our own devices (literally!). At least two of the phones in our group didn't work, and it was easy to exit the app and experience all the other options that a mobile phone has to offer, and difficult to resume the app. We didn't bother trying to use the app in the end and made our own way around the site. Consequently I asked for a partial refund from Tripadvisor/Viator but it was quickly refused. The museum is worth a look (ticket was included), and on the way back we stopped in Delphi village. We didn't pay for the included lunch, but had a couple of beers in a clifftop bar overlooking the Gulf of Itea, watching the swifts fly around - bliss.
This was a great trip! Christopher, our tour guide, was really friendly and knowledgeable. Our driver, Manos, was very efficient. We opted for the option with Delphi entry included and it was a very smooth experience. The coach was nice and air-conned. Delphi was gorgeous, absolutely visit!
Wonderful experience. The bus drive had gorgeous views, and our tour guide was knowledgeable and had lots of information to share about the places we passed through. There was enough time allotted at each location to do everything we wanted with stops on the way. The VR equipment was a nice addition to get context and be able to visualize the ancient sites as they used to be. The walk up the the statium was longer than expected but with a fairly easy track & worth the view. Great value for money!
Guide Alexandra and driver Manoch was super supportive in all aspect of the tour. Recommend the company for all.
We really enjoyed this tour to Delphi. It is absolutely worth 2.5 hours drive each way, even without the Temple of Athena (which is closed due to rockslides). Our tour guide, George, was very engaging and informative. Our driver Kostas was safe and courteous. We chose this activity which was not guided within the archeological site, because we wanted to go at our own pace. We are younger and hiked quickly to the top, then enjoyed each site on our way down. George recommended that we do this. We had two hours at Delphi to explore the archaeological sites and the museum. While we walk quickly, we spent most of our time at the Temple of Apollo, as well as the stadium and other historically significant areas. We actually did not go into the museum. Everything ran smoothly on the tour. I would recommend buying the option with the ticket so you don’t have to wait in line when you get there (that’s what we did). You don’t need to buy the ticket with the lunch, but can still go to the same restaurant and order whatever you’d like (we didn’t want a 3 course meal). I spent hours researching different ways we could visit Delphi, and I’m happy with the choice I made. The only thing I found confusing was the meeting point and what the bus would look like. We were picked up at the Hellenic Parliament stop, which isn’t in front of the Parliament building. It is near a crosswalk where there are signs for tour buses. However there buses picking up in front of the Parliament building, and so I wasn’t sure I was in the correct area. However, once George arrived, he made sure that we all got on the bus and gave very clear information about how the day would progress. I would highly recommend this tour and tour guide.
Nice experience, full of interesting things. The guide bring you inside the ancient Greek world and give you the right time to enjoy the places.
