Wat Thmei (Thmey) — Campo de Killing e Memorial do Genocídio de Siem Reap Localizado ao sul de Siem Reap (cerca de 10–15 minutos de tuk-tuk ou 20–30 minutos de bicicleta), Wat Thmei é um dos vários locais no Camboja conhecidos como "campos de morte" do Khmer Rouge e De 1975 a 1979, Wat Thmei – uma pagoda budista – foi reutilizada como prisão e local de execução dos Khmer Rouge. Os prisioneiros foram trazidos, forçados a confissões falsas, e tragicamente executados e enterrados nas proximidades em túmulos e poços de massa. Estima-se que cerca de 8.000 cambojanos inocentes - incluindo intelectuais, ex-funcionários e agricultores - morreram aqui durante o governo brutal do regime.
Construída em 1904 durante o Protetorado Francês, esta elegante vila em estilo Khmer serve como a residência real oficial do Rei do Camboja quando ele visita Siem Reap. Embora muitas vezes confundido com o "Palácio Real", na verdade é uma modesta, mas historicamente significativa vila alojado ao lado do Jardim da Independência Real
