I wanted to share feedback regarding our tour today with our guide, Kelly on our tour de Honolulu bike ride. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet the expectations set by the tour description, and we left feeling disappointed, hungry, and frustrated by what we felt was a poor value for the cost. This “food lovers dream” was completely false! The tour advertised food and drinks, but we were only provided with two bottles of water. No favorite beverage or drink, as advertised, was included. There were also several issues throughout the tour that significantly impacted our experience: At multiple local stops, Kelly was not recognized or expected, and it felt as though he had difficulty getting us into the establishments. One of the advertised stops was completely closed. We made an unnecessary stop at a T-shirt shop that seemed unrelated to the tour. At one stop, Kelly spent time flirting with the barista instead of engaging with the group. He repeatedly talked about how businesses were closing and how bad the economy is, creating a negative atmosphere. Rather than sharing Hawaiian history, culture, or interesting local information, much of the conversation centered around his personal life, current events in the United States, and stories about drinking Mai Tais. Kelly also made me uncomfortable by calling me a “ten” and “hot” in front of my husband, which I felt was unprofessional and inappropriate. We spent an excessive amount of time feeding birds and fish, which did not add value to the tour. In terms of the food, our group received one taco, one shaved ice, and one Hawaiian platter to share, which Kelly later ate. Considering what was advertised, this was extremely underwhelming and certainly did not justify the price of the tour. Overall, we left feeling hungry, bored, and disappointed. We had hoped for a fun, informative experience highlighting local food and Hawaiian culture, but unfortunately, that was not what we received.
A fantastic guide. Reliable bikes. And, you get to experience local sites and foods that you would not be able to find on your own
The tour was very educational and I left stuffed!!! Highlyyyyy recommend doing this at the beginning of your trip so you can familiarize yourself with local spots and know how to get around. Also if you don’t like fish or something else on the list- speak up!!! He can accommodate. The tour guide was also very nice. Cons: It is pricey! I tried to keep track of food costs and I’d guess the total was around $60. This could be cheaper if you rented a bike and did it yourself, but then you’d be missing out on the knowledge and good stories.
Kelly was fantastic! Enjoyed everything about the tour and local perspective. Wonderful food/establishment choices.
Excellent afternoon touring the food outlets in the non touristy parts of Honolulu with our great guide Kally on his most excellent bikes. My first fish taco was a revelation as was the poke salmon and tuna followed by a local beef in a leaf with coconut cream dessert. I went for Obama’s favourite shaved ice, could only manage one of the local doughnut buns and we ended up having a beer. Kally is a fascinating entertaining guy and really enjoyed his company. His tour gave us the opportunity to see beyond Waikiki and visit busy eateries full of local people - he also gave lots of information about Hawaiian history and what it’s like to live there. If you like to ride a bike please it a go - he also does a much longer ride going beyond the city but this was fine for us. An added bonus was he took loads of photos and created a short video of our tour to crest a perfect memory.
Ok that trip was awesome! My family of five always does foodie tours at the beginning of our vacations to kind of get a lay of the land. This trip did not disappoint and two of my kids are not avid bike riders. Kelly does a great job keeping us safe and taking us to the best local food to enjoy in Honolulu. We toured all around Waikiki, enjoyed amazing food and dessert and learned about life in Waikiki! One of the best foodie tours ever!
Do this early in your trip and learn all the best local cuisine stops so you can enjoy throughout your stay!! Kelly was my guide- Charisma central. so informative about local culture, didn’t know a stranger. Made you feel part of the “Hawaiian family”. Excellent bikes in great shape. Had a speaker on from of handlebars to point out local features-so communication was awesome. Tried many different type of cuisine- all wonderful! Some not my cup of tea- but I got to try! Kelly provided wonderful video at the end capturing the day and a list of the links to the restaurants for future reference. Fun! Highly recommended! Bon Appetit!
Bike tour with stops at cafes and bakeries that represented local Hawaiian foods. Great variety with history sprinkled in.
Food: Excellent. Got a varied taste of what the island has to offer, in places I probably wouldn't have found on my own. Cycling is a great way to get to know Waikiki. There were a couple of slight inclines, but no one had any trouble riding the short distances between stops (even with full bellies!). The tour guide is very welcoming, and combines his personal stories of life in Hawaii with facts, history, and localized tips. Recommended for all visitors to Waikiki, particularly first-timers.
WOW! WOW! WOW! What an incredible adventure! My husband and I join Kelly, our guide, for an in depth food tour around Waikiki Beach. Kelly was professional and fun. He provided a safe environment for all of us. He knows the island like the back of his hand. We stopped at 6-7 food places and made numerous stops at interesting points along the way. We got together around 12:45pm and made it back at 6:00pm. Our group did not have a rush to get back to the starting point, so Kelly took us around more places and sights than planned. I don't want to give away all of Kelly's secrets because I hope everyone can experience it for themselves! My only wish is there to be a "Kelly" in every city I visit! This was by far the best tour! IT IS A MUST DO!!!!
