We enjoyed the self guided, self paced food tour. It allowed us to wander the neighborhood and enjoy the foods we were most interested in trying. The food tour picks were excellent and we would eat at all of them again!
Great experiences! The walk in the streets and on the market is worth the detour, taste original and tasty dishes!
An fun afternoon exploring. One location was under new ownership and wouldn't accept oir tickets for food. Otherwise, everyone was quite accommodating amd friendly.
None of the traders knew this circuit so no discount. But following the recommendations we received about twenty euros, which respects what was indicated. All the food recommendations were delicious and varied and typical of the Netherlands (except one) The tour of the market was really a great time with my daughter and lasted 3 hours as we strolled through this market looking for souvenirs. Only one shopkeeper was not there despite the morning rain and cold. This tour was part of the map I Amsterdam. Strolling the streets and buying street food where there are people would also have been a nice gastronomic circuit.
We presented ourselves in shops with the famous pdf we were received as a simple customer with just a small discount or nothing at all good to order what is on the menu. The only explanations we have are on this famous pdf. Very disappointed with this tour announced as a magnificent experience.
Hello, Thank you very much for your feedback, even though we’re of course sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. Just to clarify: the Self-Guided Food Tour is designed as an independent experience. The PDF guide gives you a carefully designed route with Google Map links and, at each stop, a clear recommendation of what to order, why it's relevant in Dutch culture, the prices, the portion and the guide also gives you background information about the vendors. At the same time, you are free to choose something else if you prefer, and vendors may also make suggestions based on their current menu — especially if they’re enthusiastic about something new that day. The key is that the experience is self-directed: you choose, you interact with the vendors, and you explore the city at your own pace. The guide itself is about 40 pages and explains exactly how everything works. It seems possible that not everything was read in detail before starting, which might explain part of your experience. Once again, we’re sorry to hear the tour didn’t match your expectations, and we do hope you were still able to enjoy some of the flavours and atmosphere of De Pijp. Bien cordialement, L’équipe Who Is Amsterdam Tours
The shops are not aware of the organization. It was always necessary to explain the I Amsterdam Card oportunity given to us in this organization. Even one of the shops (a butcher shop) are rude to foreign tourists. Sorry but I donot recoment this event.
Hi there, Thanks for your feedback — we're really sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations. We’ve been working with the shop owners on this tour for over three years now, and in that time, hundreds of guests have visited these local spots using our Self-Guided Food Tour and enjoyed the tastings as agreed upon. That said, it’s always possible there was a new staff member or a recent team change that caused some confusion — and we’re genuinely sorry if that affected your experience. Just to clarify: this is a Who Is Amsterdam Self-Guided Food Tour, which is also available via the Iamsterdam platform — so there may have been a bit of confusion around the source of the offer. After receiving your feedback, we immediately contacted all participating vendors to make sure their teams are informed and aligned. We want every guest to feel welcome and have a smooth experience from start to finish. Thanks again for sharing your experience — it helps us improve. If you have any other questions or feedback please reach out to us via hello@whoisamsterdam.com Kind regards, Alexandra, Who Is Amsterdam Tours
This was so fun and amazing to self pace and the shops all knew what to give us and it was discounted and a good portion size. Excellent use of time and balance of fun and education.
We signed up for this as part of our IAmsterdam card benefits. I think the concept is great -- trying a bunch of different foods at special rates and on your own timeline. But, only 3 vendors were open when we did the tour, even though more were supposed to be open according to the tour information. Some vendors we couldn't find at all, some that were supposed to be at the street market. I guess the tour operators can't control whether the vendors are present or not, but it was frustrating walking around trying to find vendors that just weren't there. We were able to try 3 vendors -- the war fries, deli meat combo, and asian deli combo. All were great but the war fries were amazing!
Not worth the effort. The places along the way are fairly busy. The recommendations are okay. In one of the places, the cashier talked me out of the recommended item and suggested that I order what turned out to be this crappy sandwich. I think they didn’t want to bother selling the suggested thing to order.
Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review — even if this foodie adventure wasn’t quite your flavour. We’re genuinely sorry to hear you felt it wasn’t worth the effort. We actually believe it is worth it — and here’s why. We deliberately chose authentic, independent family-owned spots that have been feeding Amsterdammers (and making them very happy) for decades. That means, yes, sometimes there’s a bit of a wait — but that’s usually a sign you’re in the right place! The alternative would be steering you toward empty, forgettable eateries where the food comes fast… because no one’s waiting for it. And let’s be honest — that’s not what anyone comes to Amsterdam for. 😉 As for the sandwich situation — thanks for flagging it. We’ve spoken to the folks at that stop and they told us they simply suggested an alternative they personally love and thought you’d enjoy. But of course, it’s always totally fine to stick with what’s listed on the tour — we’ve chosen those items for a reason, too! We’ll have another chat with them to make sure they keep that in mind moving forward. If you have any more thoughts or would like to chat about your experience further, we’re all ears. Feel free to message us or shoot over an email — we’d love to connect.
Nice little tour and really good street food. We particularly appreciate advice on our choice in Mezzave. Other stops are also welcoming
