Khor Virap é o local de peregrinação mais famoso da Armênia, pois está diretamente relacionado com a adoção do cristianismo. Como religião estatal, o cristianismo na Armênia foi adotado em 301 devido aos esforços de São Gregório o Iluminador, que, antes de converter o rei Trdat III ao cristianismo, foi preso na prisão, sobre a qual uma igreja do mosteiro de Khor Virap foi construída no século 17. Do mosteiro pode-se admirar a vista deslumbrante do Monte Ararat bíblico.
Passando por uma estrada estreita, cercada por rochas de cem cavernas, descobre-se uma cena de harmonia da arquitetura com a natureza. O mosteiro, consagrado com soluções arquitetônicas finas e embelezamentos luxuosos, é um dos exemplos mais brilhantes da arquitetura armênia do século 13. Noravank é composto por igrejas de St. Karapet, St. Gregory The Illuminator e St. Astvatsatsin (Santa Mãe de Deus), que é notável por seu trabalho construtivo e escultor ideal.
Os sinos da igreja tocavam em Tatev em 16 de outubro de 2010, anunciando o lançamento de um programa para reviver um complexo monástico medieval e a abertura da "Asas de Tatev" Ropeway. A corda de 5,7 km, construída em 11 meses, passa por uma fossa profunda do rio Vorotan e sobre colinas, coberta por florestas exuberantes. O tramway é apoiado por três torres entre seus dois terminais. Um terminal está em uma colina, com vista para a aldeia de Halidzor e o outro está perto do mosteiro Tatev, na estrada para a aldeia de Tatev. Duas cabines operam ao mesmo tempo, viajando em direções opostas. Existem 6 cabos no total (3 para cada chalé), cada um especificamente previsto para as especificações deste projeto. Em cerca de 11 minutos um chalé de eléctrico leva passageiros, 30 de cada vez, da aldeia de Halidzor para o magnífico complexo de Tatev.
Entre os pilares arquitetônicos de Zangezour, o mosteiro de Tatev não tem seus "rivales". Era o mosteiro medieval mais rico da Armênia. Além de ser um centro religioso, Tatev também foi o importante centro estratégico do reino Syunik. Sendo situado em um lugar protegido naturalmente, o mosteiro de Tatev sempre foi uma fortaleza impenetrável para os alienígenas. Em condições políticas não estáveis, vários caminhos secretos no território da fortaleza levaram ao cânion e serviram de ligação entre o mosteiro e o mundo exterior.

Karen was our guide and he was very helpful and friendly and patient. Levon was the driver and we had very relaxed trip.
I’m not sure how to put into words the most magical place in the world. My family of four went to Khor Virap, Noravank and had our final stop at Tatev. All the views were amazing but I want to mention Tatev mainly. The views were like nothing I have experienced in my life. Despite it being a 14/15 hour tour, I am so glad I booked this tour. This would be our 4th tour with Hyur this week and I would definitely say it was the best one yet! It’s a hike but it’s definitely a must!! Levon our driver was wonderful and Garen our tour guide did a fantastic job guiding. Thank you both for the safe ride and explanation!
Prepare to be informed. Prepare to be engaged. Prepare to be amazed. Yes it is a long day, but if you don’t take this tour, you will be cheating yourself of a tour that is nothing short of amazing! Highly recommend our tour guide Garen and driver Levon. A great team and asset to Hyur Service!
This was an incredible tour and one I would recommend to anyone visiting Armenia. It take a you to the most beautiful and scenic areas, and well worth the long drive. Or guide was Karen and he was very knowledgeable and attentive. He also honoured us by singing a beautiful Armenian hym. We were also in very safe hands with our driver Levon, who drove incredibly on the twisting roads
I highly recommend this tour. Marina and Hovsep are an INCREDIBLE team. From start to finish, and between his professional and smooth driving skills and her total mastery as a tour guide and host, we were in perfect hands. This tour will start out at Khor Virap, one of the most famous monastic sites in all of Armenia due to its gorgeous view of Mount Ararat and its proximity to the Turkish border. Fascinating archaeology and history. Next it’s over to Noravank, located in a stunning setting. A first class lunch after that. I’m not kidding, this was amazing barbecue with all the fixings. Once everyone was good and fed, we were off to Tatev. Far flung, the journey there will give you a chance to really see the geographical gorgeousness of this country. And getting to the monastery itself is incredible. The Wings of Tatev ropeway is simultaneously peaceful and exciting, as you glide across this stunning gorge. Tatev itself is a very spiritual place, and you’ll have time to enjoy nature and learn about the religious history and architecture. If you’re on the fence, this tour is worth it. Maybe grab a doppio espresso before you board that bus! Just a thought! Thanks again to Marina and Hovsep for an unforgettable and first-class experience!!!

The tour guide was very informative , slightly laborious in English.. each stop there was enough time to listen to the information of the tour guide and explore by yourself. Lunch was very well provided for with free wine and brandy offered. My favourite stop was the Noravank monastery for the scenery. Overall worth the money. Slight downside was the people I was sat next to on the bus but the operator can't do much about that.
