Here’s a positive review you could use: Our experience at Hobbiton was absolutely magical! From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping straight into Middle-earth. The gardens were immaculate, the hobbit holes were incredibly detailed, and every corner was picture-perfect. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the tour both fun and informative with stories and behind-the-scenes insights. Finishing the tour with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn was the perfect way to end the experience. Even if you’re not a huge Lord of the Rings or Hobbit fan, this is a truly unique experience that showcases the beauty of New Zealand and the amazing craftsmanship behind the movie set. Highly recommend adding Hobbiton to your bucket list – it was worth every minute! 🌿🏡🍺✨

This tour was a tale of 2 experiences. Visiting Hobbiton was outstanding -- great logistics, amenities, facilities, lunch, information, and site tour guide was phenomenal. If you are either a Hobbit or LOR fan, this is a bucket list item for sure. But less than ideal was our bus driver who drove us from Rotorura to Hobbiton, and back. Hanna had an attitude from the start. She lied about making more hotel stops to pickup more passengers, believing these comments would make us move more quickly. Comments like "I will discipline you" got us off on the wrong foot, immediately. She peppered her commentary with political rhetoric, opinions on government, and her personal believes on a variety of topics. This was a big turnoff, as we go on vacation to avoid these topics. The bus also had very dirty windows, making the beautiful New Zealand countryside drab looking. We take plenty of tours, and in many cases the bus driver makes certain the vehicle is in pristine condition for the guests. I sincerely hope Hanna was just having a bad day, but we are not going to hide what we experienced.

Very enjoyable trip. Nice scenery, and its a great experience to see the real movie set. The guide is nice and friendly. The driver Hana is very friendly and knowledgeable

It’s a dream come true to see the beautiful Hobbiton movie set, either you have seen the movie or not, you will fall in love with this beautiful nature setting and Hobbit holes.

We booked this trip month in advance because of other reviews saying they had trouble getting in. We were picked up in Rotorua. The bus driver was exactly on time and there were five of us on the bus. The bus driver ( Nata) could not have been more funny, friendly and enthusiastic! He did a great job of setting a good mood for the day. He was funny, descriptive, and local. the bus drive to Hobbiton was fantastic. After we arrived there, there was some waiting and time to shop at the gift shop. Then we transfer to an actual hobbit bus where you were assigned a hobbit tour guide. (Chrissy)She was fantastic and we had the best time the food at the green dragon was plentiful and amazing! Totally worth it!

We joined a large tour group and filled a big bus. We drove out of Rotorua for about an hour and arrived at the movie site. Our guide/bus driver was informative and the guide (Mackenzie) who took us around Hobbiton was excellent. I enjoyed the tour more than I expected as I am not a Lord of the Rings fan. Lunch was also excellent.

There is a lot of walking, some of it uphill, otherwise, it is such a worthwhile tour, and we were absolutely delighted. We took the tours that included lunch, which said it was at the green dragon, but really it was in a tent next to the green dragon. Nevertheless, the food was excellent and definitely worth the money we spent. As we were there in the shoulder season before they close? Some of the adult T-shirts were no longer available at Coast. We couldn’t find any coasters that didn’t that didn’t have mugs attached to them and we really didn’t need any more mugs. We were very happy with the tour and would recommend it.
