We did the Christmas Markets day tour from Strasbourg with Dulce as our guide. Colmar and Riquewihr were absolutely beautiful—both towns are charming and well worth visiting, especially during the Christmas season. However, we didn’t feel the tour was worth the amount paid. The car ride was mostly silent, and we were hoping to receive more information about the towns, their history, or the region while traveling between stops. Aside from transportation, there wasn’t much added value compared to visiting independently. In hindsight, we could have done this trip on our own for much less money. While the destinations themselves were lovely, we wouldn’t recommend this tour based on value and overall experience.
Bonjour, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed visiting Colmar and Riquewihr, as they are indeed especially charming during the Christmas season. We’re sorry to learn that the tour did not fully meet your expectations in terms of value and commentary during the drive. For our Christmas Market tours, the format is designed to give guests free time to explore each town at their own pace, with explanations generally provided during transfers. Please note that driving conditions in Alsace can be challenging, especially in winter, and our guides may not speak continuously in order to remain focused on safe driving. Kind regards, Jeanne from the Ophorus Team
We had a lovely day experiencing the markets of Colmar and Eguisheim. Our tour guide, Camille, was so friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for a wonderful day!
Our guide was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us lots of historical information and took us to both Colmar and Riquewihr. Amazing decorations everywhere. Very magical.
Beautiful excursion, fairytale villages, the guide (Sweet), very nice and professional. We ate at a typical stall.
Our guide Lea was very nice. She drove 8 of us in a van. She was an excellent driver. We enjoyed our trip. It was a rainy day in Colmar and we wanted to go to the Chocolate museum. Between the excessive crowds and bad weather we didn’t get to see it. We did go to another city which was a bit less crowded. It was still very crowded but we did get to enjoy the Christmas market. I’m giving the company and the driver 5 stars because of Lea. She texted us places to go to that were inside because of the rain. When someone said they needed a restroom she immediately took us to a restroom. We also had one passenger who repeatedly told her to blow her van horn at a full sized tour bus loading mostly elderly passengers in the rain. It was in a roundabout and so there was no place for any cars go until they were finished. Lea responded very calmly to the man in our bus demanding that she start blowing her horn by simply saying “I will not.” Each time he demanded she said “I will not.” It took all of 7 minutes for the bus to be completely filled with passengers and on its way. I know because Lea announced the time once we were on our way. The 7 minutes to help others was a small price to pay. She kept her composure during and after the event. The lesson I learned from her that day was far more valuable to me than the sightseeing trip.
This day trip was so fun! Had enough time to explore 2 Christmas markets/towns as it was crowded on the weekend. Lea was an amazing guide! So knowledgeable about the areas.
This was a wonderful tour to Colmar and Riquewihr. Our guide was wonderful and kept us on time. I could go back and spend a few days in Colmar but this was a great way to get an initial glimpse of the town and its Christmas magic. Highly recommend in lieu of the overcrowded buses.
You see only two villages with 1.45 hours of free time in each village. Lots of crowds at Xmas time so be prepared
Our guide was wonderful, but the plan for the tour was not. When we got to the Colmar market, we basically had to rush through the entire thing without stopping so the tour guide could provide facts. At the other end of the market we were given an hour and 45 minutes to have lunch and shop. By that time, the market was busy and crowded. There was no way we could get back to the beginning of the market to see all of the things we had to pass by that we were not allowed to stop and shop at. Not enough time at this market! We should’ve been dropped off and given a map at the beginning of the market and then allowed to shop. We could have met up with the guide at the end to hear the facts about the market.
Bonjour, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re really glad to hear that you found your guide wonderful, but we’re sorry that the organization of the tour did not fully meet your expectations. The Christmas market in Colmar can become extremely crowded depending on the day and time, and this can sometimes impact the flow and timing of the visit. That said, we completely understand your frustration about feeling rushed at the beginning and then having limited flexibility once the market became busy. Your suggestions regarding being dropped off earlier with more free time and a map are very valuable. We truly appreciate you sharing them, and we will take your comments into consideration to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you again for your honest review, and we hope to welcome you back for a smoother and more enjoyable visit. Kind regards, Jeanne from the Ophorus Team
Absolutely wonderful, a fabulous experience, visiting villages that seem to have come out of a story. It is worth doing this route without question.
