A história de Skopje começa com os assentamentos dos trácios e o estabelecimento da fortaleza de Scupi. A cidade fazia parte dos romanos, bizaninos, búlgaros e, por curto prazo, dos países sérvios. Os otomanos conquistarão a cidade em 1392. Eles mudarão o nome para Uskub e o local converter-se-á numa cidade única, que será chamada de numerosos otomanos, búlgaros e albaneses. Em 1912, a cidade será libertada dos otomanos durante a Primeira Guerra dos Balcãs e eventualmente se tornará parte do país sérvio. Durante as duas guerras mundiais será eventualmente dado ao país búlgaro, antes de no final se tornar parte e uma capital da Federação Macedônia na república socialista iugoslava. A cidade começará a crescer rapidamente de maneira econômica e industrial. Infelizmente, um enorme terremoto em 1963 destruiu uma grande parte da cidade, deixando mais de 100 mil pessoas sem moradia.

Rua típica no antigo bazar O antigo bazar é um bazar localizado em Skopje, situado na margem oriental do rio Vardar, que se estende desde a ponte de pedra até o Bit-Pazar e da fortaleza de Skopje até o rio Serava. O Antigo Bazar cai principalmente dentro das fronteiras do Município de Čair, mas uma parte dele está localizada no Município de Centar. Como um dos mais antigos e maiores mercados nos Balcãs, tem sido o centro de comércio e comércio de Skopje desde pelo menos o século XII.
A ponte é considerada um símbolo de Skopje e é o principal elemento do brasão de armas da cidade, que por sua vez é incorporado na bandeira da cidade. A Ponte de Pedra conecta a Praça da Macedônia, no centro de Skopje, ao Antigo Bazar.
Uma gigantesca estátua de bronze de 29 metros de altura do antigo rei guerreiro, Filipe da Macedônia, foi erguida na terça-feira no coração da capital macedônia, Skopje, em meio a uma multidão de espectadores.

A Madre Teresa Memorial House é dedicada à laureada do Prêmio Nobel da Paz e humanitária Madre Teresa pode ser encontrada em sua cidade natal Skopje, na Macedônia, onde viveu de 1910 a 1928. A casa memorial foi construída na popular Rua Macedônia no município de Centar. , no mesmo local da outrora Igreja Católica Romana do Sacro Coração de Jesus, onde Madre Teresa foi batizada. Fica a leste do Palácio Ristiḱ e da Praça da Macedônia. Nas primeiras três semanas, a casa memorial foi visitada por 12.000 pessoas
A antiga estação ferroviária abriga agora o Museu da Cidade de Skopje Museu da Cidade de Skopje é uma instituição cultural localizada em Skopje, República da Macedônia. Fundada em 1949, está localizada em uma antiga estação ferroviária que foi parcialmente destruída pelo terremoto de 1963. O museu é o lar de exposições permanentes representando a história de Skopje, desde os primeiros assentamentos registrados por volta de 3000 aC até o presente.

The driver and the guide can speak fluent English, which is a plus point. The guide is friendly and provided useful history to the places we visited. I enjoyed this tour. Skopje is an old charmed place, Didn't expect it to be so beautiful!
It was a very interesting tour.Skopje is a very beautiful city,full of monuments.Our driver Georgi Ivanov was very informative and accomodating.He was very friendly and make you feel very relaxed.

I took part in a guided tour in Skopje and it was a truly unforgettable experience! The guide was extremely knowledgeable, likeable and passionate, which made the tour engaging from start to finish. We visited the most iconic places of the city, such as Skopje Fortress, Old Bazaar and Stone Bridge, receiving detailed explanations and very interesting historical curiosities. I was also struck by the balance between ancient history and modernity, perfectly illustrated by the guide. The pace of the tour was well calibrated, with just enough time to take pictures and ask questions. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover Skopje in an authentic and thorough way!
I was very satisfied with my day trip to Skopje. It was well worth it. Georgi was a good guide and driver, however he should tone down his political views especially against the West, and his inkling of condoning Russia in the invasion of Ukraine.
Had an amazing day exploring the wonderful sights. North Macedonia has so much to offer. It was an absolute hidden gem. Our driver/guide for travelling was so informative and the guide we had in North Macedonia was so passionate about Skopje and her country. I would highly recommend ❤️
The city of Skopje, was alot more than I expected. Full of history, shops, restaurants and bars. I wasn’t expecting much, but I was wrong. Stefan was my driver… what a great guy!
They were very easy to work with. We did the one day trip to North Macedonia. Our driver/guide Georgi was amazing. He was very accommodating, knowable, and friendly.

I loved Skopje. What charming and intriguing place. Meeting point for the tour was easy to find. I got there first, and our driver Stefan arrived about 10 minutes before the start time. On the way there, he shared some tips and insights about Skopje. We had 2 restroom stops on the way which was nice to have. The drive was 4 hours each way but it did not bother me at all. The van was comfortable and I slept most of the way. Border crossing was very smooth and Stefan handled it efficiently. Once we arrived in Skopje, a local guide was there waiting for us and took over then. It was a cold rainy day and it was nice of her to take us to a place where we can guy scarfs, umbrellas and gloves etc. before we started the tour. The city has a lot to see, the tour had many stops but felt a bit rushed. She moved on and walked fast between stops , and I couldn’t hear her sometimes because she was talking while walking. But the sound of rain made it difficult to hear her. Before the tour ended, the guide took us to a cafe where credit cards were not accepted. We had to go to a nearest ATM with a poor rate and a high fee to get cash. I suggest taking about $20 worth of cash in Macedonian Denar. If not, always ask if cards are accepted wherever you go, before you order anything. Skopje’s old town was so charming, and felt like a maze. There seemed to be a lot of great food options. Next time I will fly directly into Skopje and stay there for at least a few days! Thank you Stefan and B Travel!
The driver Philip was great and kept us entertained both with history and stories, while driving safely and on time. It takes about 3.5 hours each way without traffic (so 8-9 hours) so without him we'd be really bored and exhausted. We spent 3.5 hours in Skopje. The tour guide there was OK though she had a tendency to talk too quietly and to start talking before the entire group arrived, which, in a loud city like Skopje meant that we didn't hear much of what she said. Skopje is a nice town with a strong Ottoman influence and worth a visit (though honestly not as nice as say Plovdiv or Sofia in my opinion), and I think this tour company is a great way to do that
