A história do Castelo Himeji vai desde suas origens no século XIV como um forte até a construção do século XVII da estrutura atual por Ikeda Terumasa. Conhecido como o Castelo White Heron, sobreviveu a séculos de mudança, incluindo o fim do feudalismo e até mesmo os bombardeios da Segunda Guerra Mundial. O castelo, um importante símbolo da arquitetura do castelo Japonês, foi designado Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO em 1993 e passou por vários grandes projetos de restauração para preservar suas iconicas paredes de gesso branco e complexas estruturas de madeira.
EN, Castelo Himeji Nishi Oyashiki Ato Garden, é de 3,5 hectares e 8,5 acres de tamanho foi aberto em 29 de abril de 1992 para comemorar o 100o aniversário de Himeji se tornando um município. É um novo sítio cultural para servir não só para a preservação histórica e cultural, mas também complimentando o Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO
Arima Onsen tem uma história como a mais antiga fonte quente do Japão, com lendas atribuindo sua descoberta a figuras mitológicas e registros iniciais do século VII mencionando a visita do imperador Jomei. Ao longo dos séculos, foi frequentado por imperadores e samurais, um desenvolvimento impulsionado pelo monge do período Nara Gyoki que construiu o Templo Onsen-ji e o monge do período Kamakura Ninsai que estabeleceu alojamentos.
Mount Shosha, em uma altitude de 371 metros, está localizado no noroeste da cidade de Himeji. A primeira corda foi construída em 1958. Esta corda usava dois teleféricos, chamados Soyokaze e Sachikaze, que podiam acomodar 30 passageiros cada. Em 1992, a corda foi ampliada, e atualmente opera com 2 teleféricos, capazes de transportar um máximo de 60 passageiros cada.

Your in Japan so lots of walking. The castle was absolutely beautiful. But not for those with any type of issue with walking. You climb up to the castle via uneven ground. Once inside, several levels of stairs that are very steep. Then you decend steeper stairs. Worth it but definitely not for those that experience difficulties. The ropeway was closed for the day due to high winds I believe. So we did the Kobe Port Tower which has lovely views but not completely an equal trade. Kareem was very pleasant.

It was relaxed and at our own pace. Our guide, Arslan, took great care of us. He showed us all the sights and even a few off the usual path.

Ali was very nice but ultimately he was a driver, not a tour guide as we had expected. His English was limited and though nice he was very shy and did not talk much or tell us barely anything about the locations. We had thought that a “luxury” tour with a “personal guide” would include someone who could come along with us at each stop (or at least the castle) and give us a rich background on the location and history, but the only service provided was transportation. There was also an issue/miscommunication where the tour company messaged me the night before saying there was a “glitch” with Viator and that the tickets/admission fees were actually NOT included, even though it stated clearly in the description that they were. After some back and forth we got them to correct their mistake but it did sour the experience a bit. Even with the admission being paid for, $675 for transportation and admission feels like a rip-off honestly. I would not do it again.
Our driver Hamza was polite, punctual, respectful and knowledgable. Our private car was spacious for our family. We got picked up and had a very comfortable day exploring the various stops on our tour. Hamza also made some good restaurant recommendations for us for lunch. Overall, very relaxing and productive day spent in Kobe, Himeji Castle and the cable car ride with beautiful views from the mountain and temple. Highly recommend!
