This experience with Giannis our city guide was so great. Over the thematics, his huge knowledge in archeology and history allowed us to learn a lot about Athens. It was a fantastic experience that gave us a deeper insight into our perception and knowledge of flavours. It was also an opportunity to discover quality shops for herbs, oils, etc. as well as quality restaurants. It was a really great afternoon. It was our third experience with Athens insiders and one more time perfect.
We are thrilled that you had another wonderful experience with us and we are glad that you had a fantastic time with George. It truly means a lot to have returning guests like you and offering them an insightful experience. We hope to welcome you back for another memorable experience!
Jason was a fantastic guide. We had just arrived in Athens and this was the perfect way to get introduced to the city and fight our jet lag. I have some food allergies and Jason was very knowledgeable and careful. Additionally, he was delightful-engaging and passionate about food and Athens! We even went back to one of the places he took us to the following day. I can not recommend this tour enough! Thank you!
Eleni was an amazing guide and we had an awesome experience. She walked us through Athens' neighborhoods, markets and squares and explained the culture and traditions as we walked. We sampled so many great things - fruits and nuts, meats and wines, spinach and feta pies, and desserts - at numerous stops along the way. By the end of the evening we were full and satisfied with all we ate and learned.
Our guide was caring and knowledgeable and we had a pleasant, rewarding experience. Bravo on everything, from walking and talking to tastings.
My wife and I went on this tour with Yannis and it was phenomenal. All of the stops and recommendations were spot on. We enjoyed everything from the food, the sights seen, and the company. It felt more like spending time with a friend than a food tour. He was very knowledgeable about both the history and the food. We wish we would have done this tour the first day we were here. I recommend this tour to everyone. I wish I could go on it again.
Our first full day in Greece - jet-lagged, hot, and exhausted - we opted for a private food tour in Athens. In addition to the aforementioned conditions, I should note that the only thing I like less than writing reviews (I made an account for this) is taking guided tours. Then, I met Yannis Ninos. Yannis is a chef and food/culture enthusiast, and I'll start with the obvious. The tour itself was engaging on every level - he showed us the cultural centers, art, and markets of the city between stops on our caloric scavenger hunt. The food was perfect - everything from quiet, intimate coffee shops and fresh fruit to punch-you-in-the-palate cured meats and cheeses. You'll get the Greek classics and more - if you like to eat (a lot), you won't be disappointed in the variety or quality of the foods and establishments explored. I'd describe further, but a lot of the fun was being surprised along the way. But, for us, Yannis made the tour. He took us through Athens in the way that someone welcomes you into their home. He was welcoming and curious, and genuinely interested in getting to know us, while also ensuring the tour aligned with our preferences. He wove in and out of conversation to point out interesting parts of the city, his favorite local graffiti, and other small points that we never would have picked up on. He is the type of person you want to get a coffee with (which luckily, we did), and his knowledge of and care for Athens and Greece will shine through regardless of the stops along the way. He is the sort of person that disarms you, makes you feel like a friend, and allows you to truly engage with and enjoy your surroundings. Honestly, he could have taken us to MacDonald's and Starbucks, and I still would have been thankful for the time we spent with him. Yannis will make your trip better. We were sad to say goodbye, and maybe a little too aggressively got him to promise he'll take a trip of his own on the U.S. east coast and let us return the favor. We can only hope it works out. Efcharistó, Yannis!
After an INCREDIBLE four-hour food tour, the only thing i can say for sure is that Yannis Ninos is the reason for you to have a food tour in the center of Athens! Exploring Athens and tasting unbelievable local delicacies with Chef Yannis was the highlight of our vacations in Greece. It was by far an experience beyond expectations! This guy should really have his own tv show! Thank you Yannis!
Our guide Panos was incredible...knowledgable and personable. He took us to an eclectic selection of locations and tailored our experience to our interests. Loved every step of the tour and the exotic tastes of Athens! Well done Panos thanks for taking such good care of our family! Yamas!
When you are back home after a holiday full of new experiences - people, places food, music - there are always one or two of those experiences that stand out in your memory. Our day with Ioannis Ninos, exploring the Athens food scene, was one of those experiences. He was an excellent guide - knowledgeable and fun to be with - and took us to places we would have never found on our own in the short time we spent in Athens. We spent the day eating and drinking and talking about our different cultures: ours Caribbean, his Greek, and the time passed all to quickly. Thank you Ioannis for a perfect day !
I had a wonderful time exploring Athens food with Panos - we spent about 4 hours wandering through different neighborhoods and sampling many different types of Greek and Middle Eastern food. Everything was delicious, and he tailored the tour based on what I was interested in doing/ experiencing. Very friendly, knowledgeable guide with perfect English- could not recommend him more! I’ve already told several others who are going to Athens about this tour. Thank you again, Panos!
