This trip was quite rushed, which i understand because you are travelling a long way by coach to get to the destinations. My advice would be to skip the guided part and visit the catacombs, which are just off the square with the big gold ball. Then check out the nearby streets. Later on you go to lake Wolfgangsee and village. Again, quite rushed. The village is stunning and the boat ride is very relaxing with wonderful views. This was my favourite part and worth the whole trip. This tour is very worthwhile. If you are into The Sound of Music then Salzburg is worth it. The catacombs are where the family hide from the soldiers. Instantly recognisable and a stunning location.

Salzburg Old town is a beautiful place that brings you to the past! Melanie our tour director was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our driver Savas was also prompt and skillful.

It was a great day out, our tour guide Melanie was great, also Smilie the driver, got us into Salzburg early, so we had extra time to explore the old part of the city, but of not enough time there, but that was OK, our guide highlighted lots of places of interest, I had wanted to climb upto the fortress, but not enough time, but not a problem, I had booked a half day tour the following afternoon, was planning to walk along the river, so did this on free time on todays tour, and the fortress next morning, you need to comeback to the city for at least another full day, as there is so much to see, I am not really a fan of cities, prefer outdoors more, but I loved Salzburg, after lunch we travelled to the lake district, this part of the tour us not to be missed, even if you wantonger in the city, the views from the boat ride on the lake ste magnificent, on the way back our tour guide Melanie gave us lots of information on things to do in Munich which was good.
Thank you very much for your detailed and enthusiastic feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great day and that Melanie and your driver contributed to making the tour both enjoyable and well organized. It’s wonderful to know that you made the most of your time in Salzburg and especially enjoyed the Lake District and the boat ride. We understand that time in each location can feel limited on a day trip, but we’re glad you were still able to experience so much. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again on another tour in the future.
Our trip to Salzburg and the Lake District was absolutely wonderful, and Austria 🇦🇹 has truly stole my heart. Our tour guide Monika was extremely knowledgeable and her passion for history and the beauty of this magical tour shone through and was contagious. I don't have young children but I watched how lovely and supportive she was towards the younger children on the trip. Salzburg is probably one of the most beautiful towns I've ever visited. The shops, the food, the character just gorgeous in every way. At the Lake District, I took the boat tour on my own and my husband stayed on the bus with my daughter which was no problem at all. My hubby had a good chat with the driver whom was also very friendly and helpful. The boat ride was spectacular and to see where my favourite musical was played was such a treat. The hills really did come alive for me today and I will treasure the memories forever. Monika thank you for absolutely captivating me, inspiring me all the more to keep travelling the world and being free to be me. You are a very special lady.
Thank you for your wonderful and heartfelt feedback. We are delighted to hear that you had such a memorable experience in Salzburg and the Lake District and that the tour left such a lasting impression on you. It’s especially nice to know that Monika’s passion and care made the day even more meaningful for you and your family.
All of a sudden the Lake District tour was cancelled. This was not told in advance. The tour guide was also not good. Ideally you should refund the proportionate price for Lake District tour which did not happen
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that during the winter months, certain parts of the Lake District program — especially lake-related activities such as boat cruises — are not operated due to seasonal closures and weather conditions. This is communicated in advance during the booking process, and the itinerary is adjusted accordingly. We regret that this was disappointing for you, and we also note your comments regarding the guide. Refunds or booking adjustments are handled through the platform where the reservation was made, in line with the stated tour conditions. Thank you for sharing your experience, as guest feedback helps us continue improving communication and service.
It was a great day trip to visit the Christmas Markets. Seeing the sights of Salzburg was amazing. Our Tour guide Courtney was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Thank you very much for your kind review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed visiting Salzburg and the Christmas markets, and that Courtney’s knowledge and helpfulness made the day even more enjoyable.
The title of the tour is misleading. The tour didn’t cover the Lake District as promised. And I got separated from the group from the very beginning of the guided tour and the guide tour was only for 30 minutes. So unfortunately you are just paying for the transportation from Munich to Salzburg and back for the most part.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Please note that during the winter months, parts of the Lake District itinerary—particularly lake cruises—are not offered or operated due to seasonal closures, which is communicated in advance, and the program is adjusted accordingly. The guided portion in Salzburg is therefore shorter, with additional free time provided to explore independently. We regret that you were separated from the group at the start and appreciate you sharing your experience, as this helps us review and improve our on-site coordination.
The bus pickup point for Salzburg is on the opposite side of the road where the pickup point for other tours (Rothenburg, Neuschwanstein castle, etc) are located so be careful. The bus was comfortable and the itinerary was short and not that tiring. The tour started on time. I just hope Gray line day tours will also incorporate the use of one-sided earpiece just like what the other tour companies in Europe do. The tour guides speak softly so it was a bit difficult to hear them when you are taking pictures several feet away.
Thank you very much for your helpful and balanced feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the bus comfortable, the itinerary manageable, and the tour well organized and punctual. We appreciate your suggestion regarding audio earpieces and will gladly pass this feedback on for consideration, as clear communication is important to us.
Without boat tour in lake district, it can be done much more efficient by yrain from Munich to Salzburg.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the guide friendly and informative. Regarding the lake boat tour, please note that during the winter months this activity is not offered or operated, which is clearly communicated in advance, as boat services are seasonal. The itinerary is adjusted accordingly to account for winter conditions and operating schedules. We appreciate you sharing your perspective on timing and transport options.
