Our guide was Peter and he was a great guide. This trip into Bosnia was a long one with some beautiful scenery. Some roads were rough and expected but Peter handled them like a pro. He is from the area we visited and offered some local perspective that was interesting, entertaining, and engaging. It was evident he enjoyed sharing about Bosnia and Herzegovina because it was his homeland. The Kravica falls were magnificent and the water flow was perfect. Mother nature really showed us a great display. The city of Mostar was a basic city until we went down into the old town and WOW was it full of energy and excitement. So many little shops and vendors and great options of food offerings. We ate at the place recommended by Peter our guide and was not disappointed. The Mostar bridge was beautiful and the boats whizzing by was fun to watch. Honestly, it was a long trek back into Dubrovnik yes, but all in all it was a great trip and experience if you know you have the time. They provided Hotel pick up and there were 8 of us. We left our hotel about 7 am and arrived back about 4:30 pm. Another excellent offering through Viator.
Miodrag was an exceptional guide from start to finish. We booked a day trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar and he arrived promptly, set a clear itinerary for the day, and kept everything running to time throughout. The drive itself became part of the experience. Miodrag used the journey to give us a rich and layered history of both Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, weaving in the broader story of former Yugoslavia in a way that was genuinely illuminating. He clearly knows this region deeply. Crossing the border could have been a source of stress but Miodrag handled it with complete ease. In Mostar itself, he guided us through the old town with real warmth and genuine enthusiasm for the place. He pointed us towards excellent local food - we ate very well - and gave us enough free time to explore. What sets Miodrag apart from other guides is not just his knowledge, which is considerable, but his personality. He is warm, generous, funny, and genuinely interested in making sure you come away having understood something real about this part of the world. He never rushed, never made us feel like just another group, and treated every question with care. If you are doing the Dubrovnik-Mostar route, Miodrag is the person you want with you.
Petar our driver arrived at the Hotel entrance exactly at the time arranged, this was a welcome change from a previous tour we had been on as we had to get to the meeting point ourselves and as these trips leave very early in the morning , stepping onto the mini bus at the door was great. As we were the first pickup we were fortunate to get the front seats which made the trip even more enjoyable as could chat to Petar most of the way, he is the most pleasant person and was only to happy to answer my wife’s many questions about life in Croatia, just makes the trip more personal Petars knowledge about just about every subject is great, clearly he has lived through the hard times of the early nineties and was ok to explain about the wars and how the people were impacted but also covering the aspects of culture , history and geography of the country He clearly has a good sense off humour, an asset to the company The trip itself although long drives to destinations was great , comfortable and safe , taking what Petar called the Donkey Road added to it with some stunning scenery and views The waterfalls are stunning and for the less able a small tractor type train can be used to get up and down the steep hills Mostar was well worth the visit, it was very crowded and warm in the old town and walking over the many cobbled streets can be tricky Best be hungry if stopping for food as the portions are massive in the restaurants but really tasty and great value for money We were advised that Bosnian Marks are not needed but in the bazaar they didn’t want to take euros or euro credit card so had to skip a few stalls , there are ATMs if you really need change Petar met us at the agreed pickup point and got us easily through customs and back to the hotel around 6pm , it’s a long day and well worth it with a very knowledgeable driver tops it off Special mention , I’m sure he had my Spotify playlist playing in the bus , all great tunes
Our driver Petar picked us up bang on the time as arranged , an early start 6:55am but well worth it. Petar was an excellent driver , I was lucky to have got a front seat and never felt unsteady with the driving and the other traffic. Once we had picked up the other passengers only 7 in total Petar explained what the itinerary was which was good as we could gauge the number of hours between stops Throughout the drive Petar informed about points of interest enroute and was great at answering mostly my wife’s questions about life in Croatia Toilet and coffee breaks are included on the journey and Petar managed the pass though customs with ease and only being seven of us there was very little delay Travelling off the main highway up what he called the donkey road was a great part of the journey as the views were stunning The waterfalls are well worth the visit , water is Baltic so you have to be brave or hardy to take a dip Mostar was a stunning place to visit , very warm in the old town but many places to eat and drink Really glad we made the effort to visit Petar had arranged where we would meet up after our time and safely returned us directly to the hotel with continued chat about history of Croatia , a bit more subdued due to the sleepy passengers Overall a great trip , highly recommended with the smaller mini bus as had experienced the 50 seater coach delays at customs A special thanks for the music on the trip , i’m sure Petar has tapped into my Spotify playlist
Today’s trip to Mosar and the Kravica waterfalls was brilliant, we were met by our driver for the day Petar on time and what a lovely guy he was, very informative and knowledgeable and even stopped off on the way back to show us the salt lakes in Ston. The waterfalls was everything I imagined them to be like, sure I would have loved the weather to have been nicer so we could have a paddle but with the sun comes the crowds, we practically had the place to ourselves. Mostar was lovely and again pretty quiet being in low season. Going in a small group with only 6 of us was luxury and I got to meet some lovely people. I would definitely recommend booking with Smile Dubrovnik.
This was our second wonderful day excursion with Dubrovnik Smile in 2 days. Superbly organised by Andrea, and we cannot praise our driver, Iva, enough. Friendly, charming, helpful and full of interesting information, Iva guided us perfectly throughout the day. I would recommend visiting these stunning sites with this company. You may wish to note that the entrance to the waterfalls is not included in the cost of the tour.
We booked a Bosnia tour and also a Montenegro tour with Andrea, she was so friendly, patient and full of knowledge. The trips were brilliant and she even checked best weather days for travelling. Can’t thank you enough Andrea! We have had the best time! Full of great memories!
We was recommended this trip by the lovely Andrea and we was so glad we went on trip was picked up by our driver Andrew at 6.30 am , he made our trip memorable with so much information about Bosnia and its history and he was so friendly and funny . The waterfalls were beautiful got some lovely pictures and Mostar is a lovely town very busy and very cheap to buy food & drinks Beautiful views here as well . Recommend this trip we where back soon after 5pm but well worth a visit especially booking it with Andrea in Mlini which is where we where staying
An amazing day trip to the waterfalls and Mostar. Ivor, our driver, was very knowledgeable about all the areas. He was very friendly and helped make the trip so enjoyable. The small size of the group was fantastic. The waterfalls were beautiful and it was perfect that the trip planned for us to visit there first as it was quiet and not busy in the morning. A swim is a must! Mostar was wonderful. A very unique town with plenty to do. Great restaurants and shopping too. Thank you to Smile Dubrovnik 😃 for such a wonderful day.
An early start at 6:30 allowed us to arrive at the waterfalls ahead of other travellers and have a fantastic swimming experience. We had time in Mostar to enjoy some great Bosnian food with a fantastic view of the river and bridge. Transport was very comfortable and boarder crossings handled by our driver who was a great host. A brilliant day trip and back to our accommodation by early evening.
