The cenotes were stunning — but unfortunately, the rest of the experience was a mess. Communication was chaotic from the start. I had to message FIVE different WhatsApp numbers, send emails, and make an international phone call just to get a pick-up time. The final response? A message at 12:40 AM (yes, past midnight) telling us to be ready by 6:40 AM. Not ideal. Once on the tour, no one spoke a word of English, which made everything feel like a guessing game. I am not entitled, but the tour said Spanish/English. (Which is something I looked for, when booking.) The first Cenote was beautiful and calm, not well traveled and something worth enjoying. We were told we had to rent a life vest (that’s fine…) but the only way to do that was with a $20/per person upgrade. We then arrived at the well traveled Cenote Tortuga ($35 tickets which was included) and we were placed in a group on 40. After that tour… We were left waiting with zero information for 90 minutes (with NO BUS/DRIVER/BACKPACK with $$) and later when the bus did arrive we were stuck sitting on the bus for an entire hour while about 10 other people got off to do another activity. We even asked to join and offered to pay — were flat-out told no. It felt like we were forgotten, both in planning and in person. If you speak Spanish and enjoy chasing people down for basic info, go for it. Otherwise, save yourself the stress and book with someone else. All and all. 14 HOURS long with maybe 2.5 of fun. Save your money, just go to Tulum Tortuga or find a more authentic cenote to explore… it will be worth it. The two stars are ONLY from the first cenote.
Thank you for your review dear Sarah, we are sorry that you were not informed properly about the pick up time and that you had a hard time with the information in English and the overall organization of this tour, we are bringing the matter to the attention of the management to assess whether we will be keep offering this tour.. As a compensation, we offer you a complimentary private Transfer from the hotel to the airport on your departure date,. Looking forward to hearing back from you ...
What a great experience. The cenotes are amazing. You go to two locations, one of them is a single cenote and the other has 4 of them. We were also taken to the shopping area in Playa del Carmen which we did not expect and wasn't on the tour description, I would have rather stayed at the cenotes longer. We were in a van with another group that was doing a different tour, so our tour guide was more of a driver who made sure each group was dropped off and picked up at their designated locations.
Dear Tammy, thank you very much for your feedback, it is encouraging to read that you had a good experience.. We are eager to see you again in the future..
