I was looking for something different in Vancouver that wasn't the usual tourist circuit, and this food tour totally delivered. Easy SkyTrain ride from downtown into a really cool neighbourhood most visitors may overlook. We had a small group of 7 - a few couples and some solo travellers - which kept it feeling personal. Our host clearly knew and cared about every stop, and the stories behind the people and places made it feel genuine, not scripted. You learn things you'd never pick up on your own. Great afternoon.
Thanks Don. It was like hosting an old friend from across the world. A 2-day layover in Vancouver is a short window, and I'm glad you spent part of it in Mount Pleasant with us. Safe travels back to NZ. Cheers! 🍺
Great way of eating with local knowledge
The feeling is mutual. Good food and great company!
We booked this tour at the very last minute—literally just a few hours before it started—and Tomer couldn’t have been more accommodating. Before we even confirmed, he kindly called us to discuss our group’s allergy concerns and made sure everything would be taken care of, which gave us great peace of mind. We met him in the heart of Mount Pleasant, a vibrant neighborhood that felt full of local charm and history. Along the way, Tomer shared fascinating stories about the area and its unique character. Compared to other parts of Vancouver, this neighborhood felt more about comfort food—and that was perfect for our group! The tastings were fantastic: we started with an incredible burger topped with a flavorful Malaysian-inspired sauce, enjoyed delicious pizza with a true artisan style sauce, tried a wonderful tamale, sampled craft beer, and even ended on a sweet note with artisanal Belgian chocolates and a scoop of Earnest Ice Cream (a true Vancouver essential!). Tomer guided our group of five with warmth, knowledge, and ease, making sure everyone’s dietary needs were met without any stress. We had such a fun and memorable afternoon, and we would highly recommend this tour—and Tomer—to anyone who wants to explore Vancouver’s local food scene with a personal, flavorful touch.
Fun. Not all the foods were good, but definitely 2 of them. The burger and the pizza. Tomer was knowledgeable of this neighborhood, Mt Pleasant. I also like the murals.
Old residential neighborhood in Mt Pleasant area. Familiar foods made with an unusual twist. Great flavors to savor. Pizza with kimchi? Fantastic! Artwork on building exterior walls much better than a stuffy museum. Easy walk and great desserts. Handmade gourmet chocolates and ice cream that has buyers lined up around the block.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour of the culturally diverse food offerings of the Mount Pleasant neighborhood! Our guide, company owner Tomer, was highly informative and entertaining, sharing his knowledge of the area's history and the culinary delights we were sampling. Highly recommend this tour to all!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Tomer! He helped us understand more about the culture and history of Vancouver. The food selections were diverse and each one was excellent. A great way to enjoy a day in this lovely city. Thank you, Tomer!
