What a fantastic adventure. Paddling across the lake to a glacier! Our guides Cortland & Hannah made the day so much fun. I can’t say enough about them!
Wonderful experience canoeing and hiking with Brady and Tor. We got as close as we could to the Mendenhall glacier, learned great facts about wildlife, and even saw a rainbow. Thanks for a great experience, and hi to Tor’s mom! :)
Had a great time with the family on this excursion. Mike and Elisha were knowledgeable about the area and they made sure we were safe with their instructions and all the equipment was provided even snacks and drinks. If you want a fun and active experience, this is it.
Very good tour, guide explain everything so patient and detail, we learn a lot about the glacier. Walk close to ice and also raft on the lake, scenery so beautiful and the weather is perfect. Highly recommend for family!
One of the best excursions I’ve ever been on. First time in Alaska and by far the highlight of the trip. Both Mike and Elisha were awesome. Knowledgeable about the glacier and area and motivational on the 6 mile canoe ride! Highly recommend.
This was a pretty amazing excursion! I don't believe that many can possibly get anywhere near this close to Mendenhall Glacier. We were originally looking to do a helicopter ride but this was a much better call. Our tour guides, Elisha and Brady (included in the pictures) were absolutely awesome. They were really funny and their positive energy was infectious in the best way. Canoeing across the lake is definitely a workout so if you have any shoulder or back injuries you may want to avoid this one. We were in a group of eight so it felt somewhat exclusive. In addition to being entertaining, our guides were extremely professional and always made us feel at ease. One recommendation I do have more so for the tour operator Is if people bring hiking boots, it's probably a good idea to let them keep those with them and change into them for the hike rather than wearing the rain boots provided. I wished we would have had ours when we were doing that short hike over the rocky terrain. To guests, I don't suggest bringing heavy coats for this because you are provided with everything you need. Our heavy coats ended up staying behind in the storage space. Plus you work up a really good sweat so you're really not that cold! But like I said, this gets you extremely close to the glacier and you'll get some amazing photos. Definitely giving this excursion the highest possible recommendation. It was one of the highlights of our honeymoon trip.
We found the excursion on viator. Great Fun, well Organized , Totally about 4 hours. We all had a great time. Joe had all clothes we Needed and made teenage boy our group leader. He did a great job.joe told Jokes and describes what is happening’great fun!
Incredible. Fun and good exercise. Beautiful scenery, learned a ton and laughed with our guides Hannah and Sophie. They were very professional, skilled and helpful. Dress in layers. The rain didn’t stop us from enjoying the full experience
My husband and I booked this tour with my nephew as a highlight for our trip to Alaska. We absolutely love to connect with nature and this tour offered us something no one else could- the opportunity to get up close to Mendenhall Glacier, away from the crowds, and appreciate the true majesty of Alaska. What made this tour amazing was the crew. When Mike, crew leader, met us at the pick-up point, he was very honest about the katabatic winds and how sunny days increase the winds to be very, very strong. He shared it would be a hard paddle and no other tourists had signed up so we would have to work hard. We were determined to work hard for the reward. Mike called the owner and, going above and beyond, they called in some additional experienced paddle guides to make the trip happen (at their cost, not ours). These four men (Mike, Joe, Brady, and Elisha) were incredible! Positive spirits, enjoyable company, we got to know them as we all paddled hard to make it to the beach next to Mendenhall Glacier. Wow- it was worth it!!! Joe led us on a beach hike around the bend and explained to us the geography and fauna we were seeing. As we got to the other side we had an up-close and surreal moment in front of the glacier. We had it all to ourselves and it was an impactful moment we will always remember. On the paddle back we visited Nugget Falls and saw the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center from the water. We were literally the only boat on the lake surrounded by birds and nature. The quiet stillness and just being immersed in this beautiful area was an experience we will never forget. We are extremely grateful to this crew for their professionalism and this company for ensuring we had a safe tour even at the cost of hiring two additional crew members to make this experience for us happen. We hope this review will help to bring this great company business because good people deserve to have good things happen to them. Thank you to Mike, Joe, Brady, Elisha (and the boss) for allowing us to make a memory that will always stay with us.
We were not on a cruise ship. We had one day before our land adventure & were able to book this tour. Elisha & Brady were both excellent guides. They had much information on the glacier and surrounding areas. They also had a bit of humor added and were just a joy to chat with. I was the oldest on this tour and was greatly encouraged throughout and was treated with patience and respect. Five stars for Elisha and Brady. You’re the best!
