We had a fantastic time with both Michael on the first leg of the tour from Dublin to Galway and then Ian on days two and three. We were so fortunate with the weather that we were able to take a cruise to view the Cliffs of Moher from the sea and also from on top of the cliffs. We spent the second night in the quaint little village of Annascaul where locals at a pub made us feel so welcomed. Day 3 was long and spectacular as we spent the better part of the morning touring the Dingle Peninsula and getting to spend time dipping our feet at Coumeenoole beach followed by lunch in Dingle. Although pressed for time, Ian got us to see a bit of Killarney, Torc Waterfall, Muckross Abbey and Ross Castle before our return to Dublin. We would highly recommend this tour, especially in the summer.
We had an amazing time on our 3 day Southern Ireland Tour! We started on the first day with our excellent driver Mick who was informative, quick with a joke, and handled our family of 30 with ease. On our second and third day, our driver Ruairi kept us entertained and got us safely to all our destinations... ( and that was not a small feat!). His parking ability with that big bus is amazing! Our stop in Anascaul where we ate and hung out in a fun Pub was one of the highlights of our trip. I would 100% recommend Paddywagon tours. We got to experience so many of the beautiful sights in a short amount of time.
I first wanna preface this by saying that we really really enjoyed the tour. It allowed us to see Ireland without having to deal with renting a car. But it wasn’t perfect. Only 2 breakfasts are included. I was expecting one on the first day but there wasn’t anything, so definitely eat before getting on the bus. The driver is also the guide which is fine except my guide didn’t do a whole lot of explaining the last two days. My driver also seemed to have an attitude towards the end of the trip. He especially didn’t like this Australian man that was on the tour and wasn’t very nice towards him. We all joked about it though so it added a bit of entertainment. Sometimes they change the itinerary without any notice or just don’t fully stick to it, but it didn’t really feel like we were missing out on anything. My guide took us to a castle which wasn’t part of the plans which was awesome. But then he also rushed through Killarney national park which I would have liked some more time at. Overall it was an awesome experience and I would do it again.
HORRIBLE!!! I would NOT recommend taking this tour!!! Or any Paddywagon tour. I paid a very high price for this tour and it’s the only tour (traveled for a month) that I couldn’t wait to be over. IT WAS THE WORST TOUR!!! Paddywagon changed the places this tour went to and never told anyone on the tour. The first night we stayed in a filthy hotel, miles away from town. (About 20 minutes (by car) from town.) The second night we stayed in a hotel in a town we weren’t supposed to stay in. We were supposed to stay in the Dingle Peninsula. We did not even go into the Dingle Peninsula. We stopped for lunch on the first day and spent hours at the lunch stop. HOURS. The tour bus was a sprinter that wasn’t big enough for the tourists. There were no windows in the sprinter. We weren’t allowed to ask questions about what we saw. I asked why everything was named after the same person and who the person was. I was told by the tour guide it was named that cuz it was. Someone asked for the significance of Kearney national park. She was told it was significant b/c it’s a national park. We were given no information about what time we’d start “touring” in the morning. I sat in the lobby for hours on the second day, waiting for the sprinter to show up.
I was expecting a tour guide as well as a driver all in one. I felt we only got a driver, very little commentary on where we were what it is we were passing through and any local knowledge. Only commentary was his opinion that the great famine did not exist. The second driver/ courier was better but still not great. Not everyone wants to Google things, I was after the Irish experience. The uniform s where old and scarfie . Again very little commentary, there was no local Irish bands playing at B&B witch was disappointing as we were a small coach. No limericks as we pass through limerick. Etc. The bus front window had bird muck on it making photo difficult . The accommodate was nice, plenty of time at stops, courty side lovely. Pickup spots was confusing as I had to walk passed one to get to the other one. The pic of 5 Beresford place was misleading as there is know Paddywagon sign or officeHostel as mentioned in email.
Bus driver Gordon was the perfect narrator and chaperone and not a moment was wasted nor by hiccups.
I joined this 3-day Southern Ireland tour as a solo female backpacker, and it was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything was well organized, engaging, and felt incredibly safe—largely thanks to our amazing tour guide, Stevie. Stevie was everything you'd want in a guide: knowledgeable, funny, approachable, and full of fascinating stories and insights about Ireland's history and culture. He also had a great playlist that added a fun and thoughtful soundtrack to the journey. His ability to make everyone feel included & safe—especially solo travelers like myself—made all the difference. The itinerary was a perfect balance of famous sights and hidden gems. We visited stunning landscapes, historic sites, and charming towns—all at a relaxed and enjoyable pace. This tour exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're considering seeing Southern Ireland, do yourself a favor and book this one—and if you’re lucky enough to get Stevie as your guide, you're in for a truly special trip.
As always, an absolutely fantastic tour with Paddywagon! The landscapes themselves are breathtaking, but our tour guide Stevie has made this tour an unforgettable experience for us. 11/10
MfG,
What a fabulous tour this was! Ireland is a truly beautiful country and this three day tour allowed us to see so much of it with all the hassle of organisation and driving taken gratefully from our hands. We got so lucky with the weather given that it was January. We were part of a very small group (not surprising given the time of year) and so our wonderful tour guide Steve could be flexible and make sure we saw more of what we wanted (castles) and adapt our trip for the weather. I would highly recommend Paddywagon Tours. They are the experts for touring in Ireland. Thanks to our guide Steve for being so friendly and hospitable.
Had an amazing time. I actually took 2 Paddywagon tours on my Ireland trip and both tours were fantastic. I would highly recommend these tours for anyone wanting to see a lot of Ireland and get the history!
