An Outstanding Food Tour—Brian Was the Best Guide We’ve Ever Had!
Having been on more than 60 foodie tours, we’ve experienced our fair share of guides, but I can honestly say that Brian was the BEST we’ve ever had!
Born and raised in San Francisco, Brian has a genuine love for his city, its rich history, and its local communities, and that passion shines through in every minute of the tour. He is incredibly knowledgeable, well-connected, and clearly cares about the people he meets. He went above and beyond to make sure our group had an exceptional experience, even offering us extra time for things we hadn’t expected.
The combination of fascinating history, delicious food, and authentic local experiences made this tour truly special. I was surprised by how much I learned! I even thought I knew how to use chopsticks properly until Brian explained the dining etiquette and traditions of Chinatown. You learn something new every day!
If you’re visiting San Francisco and want to experience the real character of Chinatown and North Beach, this tour is an absolute must. Every minute was worth it, and Brian made it all the more memorable.
Highly, highly recommend this tour! If you’re lucky enough to have Brian as your guide, you’re in for a real treat!

After more than 60 food tours, calling Brian the best guide you’ve ever had is quite a compliment! I’ll be sharing this with him, and I know it will mean a lot.
Brian loves San Francisco and the people who make these neighborhoods special. I’m so glad you enjoyed getting to know Chinatown with him—and that even an experienced food tour guest picked up something new about chopstick etiquette! Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. It means a great deal to our small, family-owned business.

Tasty and informative tour
Brian was a great tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history and sights, and seemed to love sharing it with us. He had a great sense of humor, and adapted his information to what we were most interested in hearing about. We really appreciate that he did the tour for only three of us, and spent an extra half hour with us. The variety and amount of food was just right.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Brian really does love Chinatown, its history, and all the stories that make the neighborhood so special, and I’m glad that came through during your time with him. It sounds like having just the three of you made for a wonderfully personal tour, especially with Brian tailoring the stories to what interested you most and spending some extra time together. I’m also so glad you enjoyed the variety of food and felt the portions were just right. Thank you for spending part of your time in San Francisco with Brian and with us!

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you had such a great time with Ryan. We put a lot of thought into the restaurants and foods we share, so it means a lot to hear how much you enjoyed them. And I love that the tea tasting was a special part of the experience—it’s one of my favorite stops in Chinatown too. I’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Ryan!

Cruise excursion
China Town is a place steeped in history. Our tour guide, Scott, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history. His insights truly gave us a sense of the community and its rich heritage. The food we tried was authentic and delicious. I highly recommend this tour.

Thank you so much for spending part of your time in San Francisco with us. I loved reading what you said about Scott. He really knows Chinatown and its history, but just as importantly, he cares about the neighborhood and the people who make it what it is today.
I’m also glad you enjoyed the food along the way. We want our guests to leave feeling like they’ve gotten to know a little of the real Chinatown—not just tasted some great food—and it sounds like Scott gave you exactly that experience.
Thank you for choosing our small, local tour while you were in port, and especially for recommending us. I really appreciate it.

We had a fantastic tour with Brian
We learned lots about the history of Chinatown and its inhabitants over the years. All the food we tried was great, it has given us confidence to be more adventurous when we head to Hong Kong next year (also was a bonus to learn some etiquette too). A definite highlight was the tea tasting, Uncle Gee took our daughter aside and laid down some important life rules for her to follow 😄. Brian was a wonderful guide, everywhere we went people knew him, he has a fantastic rapport with the neighborhood and meant we got more from the trip.

Your story about Uncle Gee pulling your daughter aside to give her some important life advice made me laugh. I would have loved to hear what he told her! 😄
I’m really glad you had Brian as your guide, too. He has such a natural connection with people in Chinatown, and I love that you noticed how many people in the neighborhood know him. That personal connection can really give you a different look at Chinatown than you’d get just walking through on your own.
And it’s great to hear that trying the food made you a little more adventurous for your trip to Hong Kong next year. Hopefully Uncle Gee’s etiquette lessons will come in handy!
Thank you for choosing our small family-owned company while you were in San Francisco. I’ll make sure Brian sees this. Have a fantastic time in Hong Kong next year!

Great way to see Chinatown, sample some of the cuisine, and learn a little of the history. Brian was an excellent guide and was able to adapt the tour to the questions and interests of the group. And he was funny—a talent that always makes a tour fun.

China Town!
Interesting “town”.. lots of things to see… street decor, shops, history, fortune cookies, etc.., our tour guide Isabella was really nice. Lots of good information and friendly. I will say… if you can’t walk up hills… this tour is not for you.
Resposta do operador
Thank you for joining Isabella in Chinatown! We do keep the tour at an easy pace, with gentle inclines rather than San Francisco’s steep hills, frequent stops to enjoy the food and neighborhood, and places to sit along the way. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing so much of Chinatown with her.
I smiled when I read your list—the street decorations, shops, history, and fortune cookies. There really is so much tucked into this neighborhood, and Isabella is wonderful at sharing the stories behind what you’re seeing.
I hope you enjoyed all the food along the way, too. Sitting down together, sharing different dishes, and getting to know Chinatown through its food is one of my favorite parts of the tour.
Thank you for spending a few hours with our small family business while you were in San Francisco. I’ll make sure Isabella sees your kind words about her.

Amazing food, tour and enthusiasm
Ryan Curtis runs multiple walking and food tours and we were most fortunate to have booked his Chinatown food and walking tour. We got lucky and ended up with a semi-private group with just two couples. That did not deter Ryan from putting on an amazing performance of energy, enthusiasm, knowledge and selection of the best Chinatown foods the city has to offer. We had starters through main courses, such as Peking Duck, desserts, appetizers, and a fantastic tea experience. He brings with him an encyclopedic knowledge of Chinatown history. We could not have been happier with our choice. Ryan is a rockstar who deserves 10 stars out of 5.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! I especially loved reading what you had to say about Ryan. His energy and enthusiasm are such a big part of the experience, but it’s his knowledge of Chinatown and its history that really makes his tours special.
It sounds like you had a great group and got to experience exactly what we hope for on our Chinatown tour—a lot of different foods, from Peking Duck to dessert, along with the tea tasting and the stories behind the neighborhood. And I have to admit, “10 stars out of 5” made me smile. I’ll definitely make sure Ryan sees that!
Thank you for choosing our small family business while you were in San Francisco. It means a lot to us, and I’m so glad you couldn’t have been happier with your choice.
