Lack luster tour

Pricey and lack luster tour. We went on the tour as my spouse had researched and written about Terezin in a college thesis. No concentration camp tour is happy as you focus on our civilization’s worst instincts and actions. But you sign up for a tour to hear a story; gain some insights. Our guide for the day obviously didn’t want to be there and quickly rattled off numerical facts at each point. Facts we could read in the displays or site labels. You can reach the camp/fortresses by bus car and bike. The main camp structure has an audio guide. While Terezin and the two fortresses are worth a visit, we’d recommend going on your own and skipping this tour. The films that show in the theatre in the museum in the town are interesting artifacts.

My husband & I booked a bus tour to Terezin for May 26th. Soon after the bus left from the meeting-point, my husband had a cardiac arrest. It was an awful experience which would have been traumatic for those in the bus as everyone was witness to the immediate aftermath of attempts at resuscitation, the arrival of the police & paramedics etc. As I have no way of directly contacting Viator to pass along my thanks to those who became involved in this incident I am leaving this review in the hope that those who assisted with CPR know that they saved my husband's life that day. I also want to acknowledge the efforts of the woman on the tour who spoke to the police & likely convinced them to take me to the hospital when the ambulance said I could not travel with my husband. Our vacation came to an immediate end but after some time on the I.C.U. ward we were able to repatriate home in the company of a Dr & my husband remains alive today due to the efforts of those unnamed heroes. I hope this update will bring some peace of mind to those who had to witness everything - the speed at which people responded made all the difference to the outcome. Thank you to all involved!

It is a very emotional tour because of what went on there. Much time was spent in the small fort and little time in the large fort.. there is a lot of walking on stones. It’s very flat but you need to make sure you wear good shoes. we were on an English speaking tour and there were Italian speaking people as well. So the guide was speaking in English, that was very hard to understand and then translating into Italian. Sometimes I couldn’t even tell which language he was speaking. The tour would’ve been much more meaningful if I could have understood the English.

Sobering experience.... But worth it.

Very sobering tour... One that everyone should do sometime in their life. The atrocities were unbelievable and the guide was very knowledgeable although sometimes hard to understand. We toured the entire small/large fortress complexes plus the crematory facility (which was the hardest part to see). I recommend this tour, but be mentally prepared for what you will experience. The location for pick up was a long walk from Lesser Town (25 min) so be prepared to Uber or take the tram if you are on that side of the bridge.

Great Guidelines

Karolina was a great guide. The tour was well organized and Karolina was very knowledgeable. The small fortress at Terezín was the highlight and the local guide there was also very knowledgeable.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting, however it was incredibly rushed and we never got the opportunity to fully appreciate the experience. The day we did it was very hot and we never even got time to grab a drink. This would be better as a full day tour. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

Exceptional, 100% recommendable.

A recommended activity for those who love history. Although it is a "sad" visit, our guide Karolina did a great job, explaining everything with a lot of respect and at the same time with a lot of passion, making the 5 hours of the excursion feel short.
