Ao visitar Stone Town, você não pode perder o Old Fort. Sua história conta a história de Zanzibar em poucas palavras. Old Fort é um dos edifícios mais antigos de Stone Town, primeiro usado pelos portugueses, depois transformado em um forte árabe, depois usado como estação de trem de Zanzibar e agora como centro cultural de Stone Town, hospeda festivais como Sauti za Busara e Zanzibar International Film Festivais Originalmente construído pelos portugueses no século XVII e posteriormente reconstruído pelos Omanis no século XVIII. A visitação é gratuita e os festivais e eventos culturais são frequentemente organizados nos pátios internos do forte.
A Igreja Catedral Anglicana de Cristo foi construída em Stone Town (a parte antiga da cidade de Zanzibar) no local onde funcionava o maior mercado de escravos da África Oriental Do lado de fora da Catedral, há um monumento de pedra que mostra quatro pessoas acorrentadas pelo pescoço como forma de reproduzir a forma como os escravos eram oferecidos aos compradores. O comércio de escravos era a atividade principal e ligava comercialmente os europeus (que usavam escravos para as plantações no Oceano Índico) com os governantes africanos. No século XIX, o Sultanato de Zanzibar destacou-se por ser o principal mercado de escravos da África Oriental devido à sua localização estratégica no Oceano Índico. Estima-se que entre 1830 e 1873, cerca de 600.000 pessoas foram vendidas como mercadoria e milhares de outras pessoas visitaram o local temporariamente.
É um importante edifício histórico localizado na área Baghani de Stone Town, Zanzibar. Foi construído por missionários franceses entre 1893 e 1898, e os planos foram desenhados pelo mesmo arquiteto francês que projetou a catedral em Marselha, França. A característica definidora da catedral são suas torres gêmeas (semelhantes às da igreja de Marselha), que são elementos proeminentes do horizonte da Cidade de Pedra e podem ser facilmente vistas à distância da costa. O interior da catedral é pintado com murais do Antigo Testamento. Os azulejos e vitrais foram todos importados da França. A catedral está em uso regular pela comunidade católica de Stone Town. Há várias missas realizadas todos os domingos e ocasionalmente durante a semana.

Excellent tour around Stone Town with a lot of details of the history of the place. Our guide was knowledgeable and with a warm personality.
Insightful 3-hours with Osman (guide) to learn more about the history of stone town. Started with a former slave market (great exhibition there! Must do!) then went to the main market and passed by the fish section (interesting experience), passed by Freddy M museum, bought some spices on the way and finished up with a bite at the night market. Private tours are always best! Really enjoyed all the experience! Highly recommend! For those who prefer to spend morning / day at the beach and have a nice walk later in the afternoon (tour started at 4:30 PM and we finished around 8PM!)! Ideal!

We did the stone town and prison island tour. We had our guide Mohammed who was amazing and out driver Khalid. We were able to tailor our tour to see what we wanted in Stone town and had time to do shopping. The whole day was at our pace and to our needs. Took us to an amazing lunch spot. Really knowledgeable. Super tour and service from Coastline again. My 3rd tour with them. Would highly recommend.

This was such an amazing tour! Ousmane was so knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of historical background and fun facts throughout the tour. It is totally worth your time especially if this is your first time visiting Zanzibar. We highly recommend it!
Osman is a great guy, very knowledgeable and the 3 hours flew by! There's a lot to see and information to take in but I definitely learnt a lot today! I would definitely recommend this tour, it was a lovely morning and helped my understanding of the island a lot.
I went on a walking tour of Stone Town on my first day in Zanzibar. Said was very knowledgable about the city and excited to share everything he knew with me. He customized the trip based on my interest and dropped me off at the restaurant where my friends were waiting at the end. Stone Town is confusing and twisty-turny but Said knows that city so well. Said was also the guide for my friend and I at Jozani National Forest. I think he knows every plant in the forest. All of the various guides at the forest help each other out so we found the monkeys in no time. Said even spotted an elephant shrew. He is a joy to be around and a great guide.
An excellent guide, top quality Service, Said knows very well the history of Tanzania very invested in his work! We had to do three hours we finally spent all afternoon and much of the evening with him. It is pleasant to listen! I recommend it for your activities! He is attentive and attentive but above all very good advice
