Perugia é uma cidade cheia de charme e história. Cada antigo portão, beco, praça, palácio e igreja irá capturar sua imaginação; e todos os museus e galerias irão impressioná-lo com um senso de história, cultura e arte. Perugia não é apenas uma vitrine abafada do antigo, também tem uma sensação jovem, vibrante e enérgica. Perugia é o local de muitos festivais e concertos, dos quais os mais importantes são o festival anual de chocolate de outono e o festival de jazz de verão Umbria, emprestando à cidade uma atmosfera chique e urbana inigualável por outras cidades italianas. O ponto de encontro será na Piazza Italia, de lá iremos primeiro explorar os diferentes estratos de Rocca Paolina – o chamado 'subterrâneo de Perugia'. De volta ao centro da cidade, haverá uma parada em um famoso café à moda antiga, mas muito tradicional, para um café expresso ou um cappuccino coberto com chantilly. O passeio se concentrará na Fontana Maggiore, juntamente com os outros edifícios da praça.
A Rocca Paolina, ou Fortaleza de Paolina, fica bem no centro histórico de Perugia e pode-se entrar por uma porta em Porta Marzia ou pelo sistema de escadas rolantes que liga a Piazza Italia à Piazza Partigiani.
A Porta Marzia encontra-se inserida como arco cego na alvenaria da rocca Paolina, majestosa obra de arquitetura cinquecentesca estendida sobre o vasto bairro de colle Landone, relevo meridional sobre o qual se ergue Perugia.
A bacia de mármore superior tem doze lados divididos em vinte e quatro painéis lisos de pedra rosa de Assis. Cada um é separado por um número igual de estatuetas brancas de mármore de Carrara, colocadas em saliências entre os painéis. Algumas das figuras representam personagens da história da cidade e lendas, enquanto outras são simbólicas.
A Catedral de São Lourenço está localizada no centro histórico de Perugia, na Piazza IV Novembre, com sua fachada sul voltada para a praça.
O Arco Etrusco ou de Augusto é uma das sete portas das muralhas etruscas de Perugia. Foi construído na segunda metade do século III a.C. e foi feito para reestruturar a partir de Augusto na década de 40 a.C. após sua vitória na guerra de Perugia.

Werner was an excellent guide. He was so knowledgeable about the many layers of history of Perugia. And since we visited during intense heat, he knew short cuts so that we could be in the shade as much as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on this tour
