De meados de novembro até a véspera de Ano Novo, as praças mais bonitas de Viena se transformam em mercados de Natal mágicos. Os monumentais edifícios monumentais iluminados ao longo do Ring formam um cenário fabuloso e o aroma de itens de padaria e ponche quente cria uma atmosfera pré-natalícia. Delicie-se com doces recheados com creme, frutas cristalizadas, castanhas assadas e Weihnachtspunsch (um "ponche de Natal" condimentado de vinho, conhaque ou licor adoçado com sucos de frutas quentes). Localizado em quase todos os cantos da cidade, há uma grande variedade de barracas de mercado para navegar com o maior marcador em frente à impressionante Prefeitura. Entre no espírito natalino neste passeio a pé de 2,5 horas pelos mercados de Natal de Viena, em algumas das praças mais pitorescas da cidade.

O St. Michael's Gate é o acesso mais impressionante ao Palácio de Hofburg, o centro do poder há mais de setecentos anos.
Aqui, o icônico “Speckstandl” se destaca - salsichas, presuntos, bacon e mordidas saudáveis e todos os tesouros de uma casa de fumaça.
O "Old Vienna Christmas Market" em Freyung é para muitos o mais atmosférico da cidade. Cercada por alguns dos palácios familiares mais impressionantes, a praça ainda tem o charme de uma antiga praça do mercado.

Brigitte was such a delight when touring us around the Christmas markets in Vienna. She was very knowledgeable and we appreciated her little tidbits of history throughout the night. She was very engaging and personable. Not many tour guides care to ask for the individual names of their clients, but Brigitte made sure that was the first thing she found out when she met us! She was very patient while we were walking and we aren’t used to walking in Vienna’s winter weather, so it was nice to feel like we weren’t being rushed around. Brigitte is aware that some of Vienna’s sights and happenings are being catered to the increased tourism in the city, so she made sure to show us and bring us to places that exhibited the authenticity of Viennese way of life. Before leaving us for the night, Brigitte made sure to give us specific directions for the quickest route back to our AirBnB where she met us. Would definitely recommend for future tours!!

Travelers should know that this tour is much better and deeper than a simple Christmas Market tour. Walter is a scholarly tour guide who took us to numerous Christmas Markets, big and small; public and remote; old and newer. He shared concepts about Paris architecture, politics, culture, international influences, food, city government and infrastructure. We loved every minute and will book again next year.
