Neste passeio a pé, relembramos mais de 200 anos, até uma época em que Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles, da Companhia Britânica das Índias Orientais, chegou a Cingapura, iniciou um entreposto comercial britânico em 1819, tornou-se parte dos Straits Settlements em 1826, e eventualmente uma colônia separada da coroa britânica em 1867. Visitaremos estruturas bem preservadas das eras georgiana, vitoriana e eduardiana, e imponentes edifícios de estilo neoclássico, todos restaurados para mostrar o esplendor da Singapura colonial. Prestamos homenagem aos nossos antigos senhores coloniais que deixaram para trás o seu legado de planeamento urbano cuidadoso, sistema jurídico sólido, bom sistema educativo, infra-estruturas sólidas, arquitectura impressionante, etc., que certamente desempenharam um papel significativo no desenvolvimento da Singapura moderna. Por volta do meio-dia, relaxaremos e almoçaremos às margens do rio Singapura, em Boat Quay, antes de retomarmos nosso passeio pelo Distrito Cívico e pela Cidade Velha Europeia.

A nossa história começa com a forma como os britânicos iniciaram o seu entreposto comercial em Singapura em 1819, onde os primeiros colonos europeus construíram as suas casas, e como a primeira igreja anglicana foi construída em 1836.
Exploramos os 2 edifícios coloniais que agora constituem a Galeria Nacional de Singapura, nomeadamente o Antigo Edifício Municipal (mais tarde renomeado Edifício da Câmara Municipal) e o Antigo Edifício do Supremo Tribunal. Entre na câmara onde Lord Louis Mountbatten aceitou a rendição dos japoneses em 12 de setembro de 1945, nas celas do antigo Supremo Tribunal, etc.

Descubra como dois edifícios, um antigo edifício da Câmara Municipal e outro o Salão Memorial da Rainha Vitória, construídos com mais de 40 anos de diferença, foram unidos para formar um só. Great morning in Singapore, with fascinating bits of information to kick off my visit. Ping was a wonderful guide to her city’s history and really made me wish for far more time here to explore every corner. I loved the fact that lunch was included in the experience, and would recommend this tour wholeheartedly!
Ping's tour was excellent. She was informative, knowledgeable and shared both facts and anecdotes that were interesting. The locations chosen to focus on were varied and demonstrated Singapore's history well. Ping took time to answer everyone's questions well and we did not feel rushed on the tour at all. The tour size was good ( we had 11 in our group). I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

Excellent. Ping (our guide) was charming, approachable and very knowledgeable. She made the whole tour interesting and relatable, taking us to some places that we would not have found if we had been independent tourists.
I couldn't fault this tour- really well researched and explained, lots of interesting information and we went into buildings that told the story of Singapore which are free for the public to go into but as a tourist you'd never know it! Ping finds plenty of seated areas either in shade or air-con to tell the story, so you never feel too hot or tired. I wish I'd done this tour the first time I came to Singapore!
The tour was very well organised by our tour guide Ping. She is very knowledgeable about Singapore and its history, and we learnt so much during our time together. I would highly recommend her tour, and we will definitely book her other tour options when we are back in Singapore.

It provided an excellent overview of Singapore’s colonial history and gave me a much deeper appreciation for how the country’s past has shaped the vibrant city it is today. Ping was an outstanding guide. Her extensive knowledge, engaging storytelling, personal anecdotes, and thoughtfully curated stops brought the history to life and made the experience truly memorable. She struck the perfect balance between education and entertainment, and the time flew by. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Singapore, especially if it’s your first visit. It’s a fantastic way to gain historical context, discover places you might otherwise miss, and better appreciate everything you’ll see during the rest of your stay.
