Had a really great walking tour of the mansions along Fifth Avenue!
You do not enter any of the gilded mansions on the tour. The website says “free admission no tickets required. Very confusing messaging.
Thank you for your feedback and three-star rating! We're sorry for any confusion — however, we want to clarify that our listing page describes very clearly that this is a walking tour of the exteriors of these iconic landmarks. We do not include any language promising "free admission" into the mansions, so there may have been a mix-up during booking. We hope you'll give us another chance to show you what Untapped New York is all about!
The Gilded Age Mansion Tour was well worth it, with fun facts, added humor from our tour guide Luke, and historical detail and beauty inside and outside these former homes.
This tour isn’t great. You don’t actually get so see that many of the buildings. You just hear about which buildings used to be there, and look at pictures. It’s a lot of walking for not much seeing.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're truly sorry it didn't meet your expectations. We want to be transparent that our listing page clearly states this is a walking tour focused on the history and stories of Fifth Avenue's Gilded Age, including sites where historic mansions once stood. We do not promise entry into or visits inside multiple mansions. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance!
AJ was a great tour guide and was so knowledgeable about the mansions and the families. He was very entertaining and made the tour wonderful!
JT was amazing. You would learn so much about these mansions. This guy's wealth of knowledge is mindboggling. Spend the money and enjoy a great two-hour walk along Fifth.
Our guide Ben was knowledgeable and interesting. The ear buds he gave out helped us all hear him which was great. This tour was great even if you did not watch the show and just enjoy history and architecture.
Tour guide was very nice and informative. We only got to enter one building but the stories were amazing and we learned a lot. A different way to spend a morning in NYC.
Wonderful experience. Our tour guide was very nice and friendly, and he was very knowledgeable. It was a great way to learn more about the city and this time period. As most commented and how it listed in the tour details, this is an outside tour, which we enjoyed. Unfortunately, most of the Gilded Age homes no longer exist or off limits to the public. Highly recommend this tour for new and returning visitors to the city.
What a great tour. I would highly recommend this experience. It does include some walking so wear some comfortable shoes.
